I don't know where to begin!
This movie by Tim Burton, was beautifully filmed with waistcoats flowing, swords flying and blood spattering in some of the most beautifully presented ways!
And that's the good part.
It opens with Abe's mom being killed by a vampires who apparently have taken over the south of the country. Seated in New Orleans, a 5000 year old vampire runs things. (Ann Rice, Lestat, are you listening?) Then it gets worse. Abe gets recruited by a "good" vampire to kill the rest. Abe sits at a bar, drinking shots as the vampire speaks to him. A gun falls from Abe's lap. Abe moves north to Illinois. He kills the bad guys, becomes political, meets Mary Toddd and goes to Washington! All the while keeping a chronicle of all the vampires he has killed. Long story short, the vampires fought the Civil War and lost. I kid you not. At the end of the film we jump to modern times and ANOTHER guy is sitting at a bar. The "good" vampire, who survives (There are no surprises here. This film takes itself very seriously and follows history.) talks to this guy, too. He says the same words. That guy is ... wait for it ... Barak Obama!!!!!! And a gun falls from his lap!
This was a blatant feature film for reelection and Tim Burton makes no apologies. The vampires are, metaphorical 1%ers. Rich, white and hateful. The rest are, well, the rest. The gun that falls at the end of the show is the metaphorical "win" for Barak four years ago.
This is my note to Tim Burton. Unless you plan to film a biography and mean it, don't do fiction when we all know how it ends, LOL! The show was formulaic, tedious and lacked any suspense whatsoever. I'd put this in the "miss" column and pick up a newspaper, instead!
