At Crimson Lights, Neil assumed that Devon hadn't summoned him there for casual conversation. Devon recognized that he'd been through a lot of personal and professional changes, and he was ready to move on from Hilary. Devon added that he was already dating Mariah, and he confided that he'd enjoyed it when she'd initiated a kiss. Neil cautioned that things could be complicated, but Devon thought finalizing the divorce would make things simpler. Neil advised Devon to check his gut for both his and Mariah's sakes to be sure he was ready to take things further.

Neil pointed out that Hilary and Mariah worked together, but Devon mentioned that Hilary had agreed not to terminate Mariah or anyone else if he gave Hilary GC Buzz in the divorce settlement. Neil wondered what Devon was waiting for, and he thought the best thing for all of them was to move on. Devon turned the topic to what was going on with Neil, who revealed that Ashley had offered him a job at Jabot. Devon recounted that Neil had already learned that he would only go so far in a company where he was staff rather than family. Devon thought it was time to put his bank account to good use by starting something new with Neil by his side.

Devon stated that he and Neil had the capital and experience between the two of them, and he envisioned building their own company that would be profitable but would also put something back into the world. Neil warned that it would take a huge capital outlay, and startups folded every day, so Devon might be left with nothing. Devon pointed out that he'd done very little with his money, and he thought it was time to follow through with what Katherine had wanted. Devon proclaimed that there was no one he trusted more than Neil, and they'd proven that they were family and friends who didn't keep secrets or hold grudges. Devon extended his hand, and Neil shook it.

At GC Buzz, Hilary forced a smile and asked if Mariah had had fun the night before. Mariah brightly replied that she had, and she thanked Hilary for asking. Mariah recalled that Hilary and Jordan had been laughing all night, and she noted that Hilary had been pawing all over him. Hilary retorted that Mariah had been the one with her lips locked on Hilary's husband's face, but Mariah clarified that Devon was about to be Hilary's ex-husband. They both reached for the same dress, and Mariah dryly remarked that it was a surprise that they both wanted the same thing.

Hilary held up the dress next to her in front of a mirror, and Mariah said Hilary could have the dress as a consolation prize. Hilary huffed that Mariah didn't want Devon and that he definitely didn't want Mariah. Mariah questioned whether it was because she wasn't a "high-maintenance pain in the butt." Hilary asserted that Devon liked a woman who challenged and motivated him, and there was only one woman in the room up to that task. Mariah conceded that Hilary and Devon had been sizzling hot before he'd known what a liar she was, but he was done with Hilary, and it was Mariah's turn.

Hilary haughtily stated that it was clearly important to Mariah that Hilary believed Devon and Mariah were a hot new couple, and she sarcastically said she was seething with jealousy. Mariah insinuated that she and Devon had just been trying to protect Hilary's feelings, and she suggested that things had heated up between her and Devon when he'd begged her to return to work. Hilary angrily asked if Mariah was implying that they had an insatiable lust for one another. Devon appeared and wanted to know the answer, too.

Hilary stepped aside to tend to a work issue, and Mariah admitted to Devon that she'd exaggerated about their torrid love affair that didn't exist. Mariah explained that Hilary had made it seem like Mariah was too pathetic for him to want her and like he was sad and lonely, so she'd stood up for him as his friend. Devon said he had nothing to prove to Hilary, who wasn't his problem anymore. Mariah groaned that Hilary was still a problem for her, since Hilary thought Mariah had kissed him just to irritate Hilary. Devon asked if Mariah had, and she conceded that it had been that way at first, but then it had been nice. Devon crossed over to Hilary and told her that GC Buzz was all hers.

Hilary asked what had changed, and Devon explained that staying tied to one another wasn't a great idea because they were at their worst together. He offered to have Michael draw up the papers, and he stressed that there would be a stipulation that Hilary couldn't fire anyone for a year. Devon added that he was trusting Hilary not to take the place into the gutter, and he reminded her that she'd be giving up all other rights to his estate. Devon called Mariah over, and he informed Hilary that they had gone out the other night and that they would be seeing a lot more of one another. He wanted to make sure it wasn't an issue, since the women worked together. Hilary replied that everything would be fine.

At the Newman ranch, Reed thanked Nikki for letting him have his music lesson there. She remarked that music made the house feel more alive, and she'd heard that Victoria had found a university student to teach Reed. Reed mentioned that the student was in a jazz band, so he hoped the guy wouldn't be old and boring. Nikki insisted that Reed didn't have to prove anything, and she thought it would be fun for him to grow as a musician who had talent. She was excited to see what he did with it, and he thanked her with a hug.

During the lesson, Reed strummed his guitar, and he explained that he didn't really read music, but he knew chords. The instructor huffed that it wouldn't get Reed far, and Reed argued that famous musicians hadn't known everything when they'd started out, either. The instructor scoffed at the idea of Reed becoming a successful musician, and Reed testily asked what his teacher wanted him to do. The instructor ordered him to play a scale in D minor, and Nikki listened at Reed's clumsy attempt to do it.

Cane arrived at Brash & Sassy, and Juliet sent him a text message to ask if there was any word. He approached Victoria, who informed him that she'd interviewed someone highly qualified for the position in Tokyo. Cane was irked that she'd met someone without him, and she reasoned that she needed to sign off on the hire and that she had time to meet with the candidates herself. Cane proclaimed that she didn't have to bother because he had the perfect person in mind.

Victoria was surprised when Cane recommended Juliet for the position. He explained that Juliet had been integral in securing the Sato deal. Victoria thought Juliet preferred to work as a consultant, but Cane said Juliet had made it clear that she wanted to work there. Victoria agreed to put Juliet in the running, but she also planned to meet with other people. Cane voiced his support for Juliet, and Victoria assured him that it would be a strong mark in Juliet's favor. Victoria received a text message and rushed out. Cane called Juliet and left a message saying he had news for her.

Jordan yawned while he and Lily went over proofs from a photo shoot, and she surmised that he'd been out late with Hilary. Lily warned that Hilary was a she-demon who would swallow him whole, but Jordan found Hilary to be sharp, funny, and beautiful. Lily pointed out that Hilary was also married, but Jordan countered that Devon and Hilary's marriage was over. Lily questioned whether Jordan wanted to be a rebound, and he suggested that they avoid the topic. Lily clucked that she knew Hilary, but he didn't, and he asked if she was worried that he was falling for Hilary. Lily wondered if he was.

Lily recalled that Hilary had sent two decent men to dark places, and she didn't want that to happen to Jordan. He swore that he wasn't in love, and he urged her to let it go, since he was just enjoying meeting new people in Genoa City. Jordan started to say that he liked it there better than someplace else, but he stopped short, and Lily inquired what had happened during the past ten years. Jordan recounted that the economy had tanked, and everyone with a smart phone thought they could do what he did. He quietly added that he'd done what he'd had to do to stay in New York City, but it hadn't been anything to put on his résumé. He gushed that the new job working with Lily and Brash & Sassy was exactly where he wanted to be.

Lily called out for Cane, and she picked up his phone and saw multiple enthusiastic text messages from Juliet. Cane appeared behind Lily, who reported that Juliet was dying to talk to him. Cane asked if Lily was jealous, but she replied that she was just curious. Cane explained that he'd recommended Juliet for the division manager job, so Juliet's excitement was about the job, not him. He teased Lily for being jealous, but he swore that she didn't have to be because he only had eyes for his sweet, sexy wife. They kissed.

Later, Jordan was surprised when he spotted the camisole in the trash. Lily caught him holding it and joked that it wasn't his color, and he asked if it was hers. She said she'd never seen it before, and he observed that it was in perfectly good condition. She guessed that it had fallen off the rack. Meanwhile, Juliet sent a message to Cane to let him know she was on her way to town, and Cane wrote back to assure her that she was the best candidate for the job.

Victoria arrived at the ranch and paid the instructor for his time, and she showed him out. Reed muttered that the guy had been a jerk because Reed didn't know how to read music. Reed argued that many famous guitarists played by ear, but Victoria advised him not to boycott learning. Reed grumbled that he'd known she'd find a way to make music a punishment, and he stormed off. Victoria called Nikki, who was at Crimson Lights. Nikki confirmed that the instructor had seemed full of himself, and Victoria wailed that she couldn't seem to do anything right with Reed. Nikki heard someone playing guitar outside the coffeehouse.

Nikki listened intently as a young woman finished singing her song. Nikki clapped and praised the performance, and the musician offered to take a request. Nikki didn't think the woman would know the tunes she was fond of, but the singer replied that she'd grown up listening to all kinds of music, and she considered a song to be an expression of a mood. Nikki asked if the woman knew how to play the piano, and the woman revealed that she played the piano and drums, but she felt most connected to her guitar.

Nikki inquired whether the woman would be interested in teaching a teenager who was talented but raw with his own ideas about how he wanted to learn, but the woman didn't think teaching was her thing. Nikki tossed a bill into the woman's guitar case and said the gig paid more than what was in the case. The woman introduced herself as Tessa.

Back at the ranch, Victoria asked Reed to help her understand what he'd thought the lesson would be. Reed explained that he'd thought it would be helpful, but the instructor had been a poseur. Victoria wondered if Reed was afraid he couldn't do it, but Reed refused to discuss it further. She maintained that he obviously had talent, but he needed skills and training. Reed thought he shouldn't bother because he was just a slacker who knew a few chords, and he would never become anything. He started to head out, but Nikki entered and insisted that he couldn't leave because he needed to meet Tessa.

As Reed showed Tessa his guitar, Nikki informed Victoria that Tessa's playing had been lovely. Victoria was glad Reed was no longer sulking, but she fretted that they didn't know anything about Tessa. Nikki figured that it was just a lesson, and Victoria could escort Tessa to the door just like she had the other instructor. Reed announced that Tessa was cool, and he wanted to proceed with the lesson. Nikki volunteered to be a quiet observer while Victoria got back to work, and Victoria departed. Reed declared that Tessa was hired, but Tessa insisted on seeing what he had before she decided whether or not to stick around.

Chloe stepped off the elevator at Top of the Tower, where Kevin was anxiously waiting for her at a table. She noted that he was staring, and he replied that she was gorgeous. She pointed out that he'd told her to get dressed up, and she asked what the occasion was. Kevin recalled that he and Chloe had had a recent conversation about no longer being the people they'd once been, and he understood that life was short and that he couldn't take things for granted. Kevin declared that it was time for him to legally adopt Bella and for them to officially become a family. He dropped to one knee, pulled out a ring, and asked Chloe to marry him.

Chloe balked at the idea of making things official when she and Kevin already lived together, but Kevin contended that it was what people did when they loved one another. He thought things had changed since she'd returned home, and there was no need for them to waste time when they could be the couple everyone dreamed about being. He suggested that there was only one word to say, and she tearfully cried yes. He slid the ring on her finger, and onlookers applauded as Kevin and Chloe kissed.

Chloe and Kevin toasted with Champagne, and she admired her ring. He pledged to get things right that time, and she envisioned Bella as a flower girl and Chelsea as the maid of honor. Kevin expected Michael to be the best man, and Chloe bet Gloria showed up in a white dress. Kevin was glad Chloe was willing to invite his mother, and Chloe acknowledged that Gloria was part of the package. He received a text message that summoned him to work on a computer emergency, and she insisted that her "tech god fiancé" take care of it while she started planning wedding ideas. He kissed her and lovingly swore that it would be forever that time.

At Chelsea's penthouse, Nick asked why an electronic device had been inside Connor's favorite toy. Chelsea recognized it as a tracking device similar to ones she'd used in her days as a grifter. Nick observed that the light was off, so the battery was probably dead. Chelsea had no idea how it had ended up in the toy, but Nick firmly stated that someone knew. Chelsea checked Connor's other toys, but she found nothing strange.

Chelsea said it reminded her of the time Adam had put cameras in the house when he'd been pretending to be Gabriel. Nick asked how long she'd had the dinosaur, and she recounted that Adam had already moved back in when Connor had gotten it, so Adam wouldn't have needed to track his son. Chelsea recalled that she'd lost the stuffed animal on the night she and Adam had planned to leave, but Dylan had found it on the tarmac and returned it. Nick contemplated whether the police had put the device in, but Chelsea pointed out that the case had already been closed. Nick vowed to find out who had planted the device.

Nick noted that the device had been marketed to the average consumer to track suitcases or pets, but someone had used it to track Connor or Chelsea. Nick questioned who would have known which stuffed animal Connor couldn't live without. Nick wondered if someone had bribed the nanny, but Chelsea doubted it because Adam had compiled a thorough background check on her. Chelsea mentioned Anita and Chloe, and Nick repeated Chloe's name and remarked that Chloe had always hated Adam. Chelsea recalled that Chloe hadn't moved in until after Adam had been in jail, and Chloe had let go of her rage by then for Bella's sake.

Nick recalled Chloe's recent comment about hoping Chelsea would forget that Adam had even existed, but Chelsea chalked it up to Chloe just wanting her to move on. Chelsea numbly recounted Chloe's earlier statement about the cabin being near a lake, but she didn't remember ever telling Chloe that detail. Chelsea noted that Chloe had seemed upset at the idea of Chelsea taking Sage's inheritance, and Nick pointed out that Chloe had been borderline obsessed with Chelsea and Adam. Nick's gut told him that Chloe could have planted the tracking device, but he couldn't fathom why. Chelsea said there was only one way to find out.

Later, Chloe burst into the penthouse and babbled about how she and Chelsea shared a brain because they'd sent text messages to one another at the same time. Chloe breathlessly insisted on going first, since there were things she wanted to tell and ask her best friend. A stone-faced Chelsea said she wanted to ask Chloe something, too, since Chloe hadn't been honest with her.

At Crimson Lights, Kevin and Chloe steeled themselves to meet with their mothers. Gloria approached their table, and she was irritated when Esther joined them. Esther considered it nice that Kevin and Chloe had invited them both, and Gloria asked what the gathering was about. Kevin took Chloe's hand and announced that they were getting married. Esther gasped in excitement while Gloria's expression darkened.

Esther fawned over Chloe's engagement ring, and Gloria grumbled that she had to get back to work. Kevin said he and Chloe still had to pick a date, and Esther suggested that the couple get married at the Chancellor mansion. Gloria snapped that Esther should check with the owners first, but Esther thought Jill would be happy to offer them the house. Esther assumed that she and Gloria would help, and Kevin pushed Esther and Chloe to start going over wedding plans while he said goodbye to Gloria. Esther cried tears of joy as she envisioned throwing Chloe a fairy tale wedding.

Once alone with his mother, Kevin testily asked if Gloria honestly wouldn't do anything to help. Gloria asserted that she had legitimate concerns about whether Kevin and Chloe were really ready for marriage. Kevin recognized that Gloria had been through dark times, but he thought she still believed in romance. He pointed out that he'd gotten a second chance at the future he'd been robbed of with the woman he loved, but Gloria clucked that he was clinging to a beautiful dream that would never happen. Gloria reminded him that Chloe had already divorced him twice, and she warned that history repeated itself.

Kevin defended that Chloe had worked hard to get better and that she had him and Bella, but Gloria griped that no one knew who the girl's father was. Kevin announced his intent to adopt Bella, and he envisioned being a family and maybe having another baby. He guessed that Gloria wouldn't be happy for him then, either, but she insisted that his happiness was all she wanted. Kevin said he wanted her blessing, but that meant she had to accept that he loved Chloe. Gloria maintained that getting married would be a terrible mistake because Chloe would break his heart all over again, and he deserved a lot better. Kevin and Chloe locked eyes.

Chloe asked Gloria to hear her out. Chloe understood that Gloria didn't like her, and she could relate as a mom who would do anything to protect her child, even if meant her kid resenting her. Chloe conceded that she'd hurt Kevin, but she'd felt like she'd been drowning in dark waters, and she'd had to choose whether to let him go or take him down with her. Chloe tearfully proclaimed that her life had changed because of Kevin, and she called him the kindest, funniest, bravest, most compassionate guy she'd ever met.

Chloe added that she felt privileged to love Kevin and to be loved by him, and she pledged that she would never hurt him again. Gloria asked if she was supposed to forget everything Chloe had done and just take her at her word. Chloe pleaded for a second chance to prove that she could be the wife Kevin deserved, but Gloria wordlessly walked out. Kevin was impressed with the way Chloe had handled his mom, and Chloe intended to continue to try to convince Gloria that they belonged together. Chloe refused to let Gloria or anyone else mess with what they had, and they kissed.

Devon jogged through the park and literally bumped into Jordan. Jordan revealed that he had an appointment at GC Buzz to meet his new boss for a full photo session. Devon sourly assumed that Jordan also intended to move in on Devon's wife, but Jordan flatly reminded him that Devon and Hilary had signed divorce papers. Jordan stated that what he and Hilary did was no longer any of Devon's business, and he started to walk away. Devon barked that they weren't done talking.

Devon acknowledged that Lily thought Jordan was great, and he didn't want things to be weird, so he was trying to be straight with Jordan. Devon recognized that he didn't have a say in what Hilary did, but he didn't see how it was possible that she was moving on that quickly. Jordan pointed out that Devon hadn't seemed to be taking his time at the Underground with Mariah, but Devon argued that he and Mariah had a long-term friendship, whereas Jordan and Hilary had just met.

Jordan thought Devon would be even more jealous if Jordan and Hilary had shared a past. Devon insisted that he wasn't jealous, but Jordan didn't believe him. Devon expected to dance with joy at Hilary's wedding one day, but Jordan quipped that Devon would be too old to get up and dance by the time he accepted that Hilary had moved on. Devon said he just needed long enough for Hilary's next guy to prove that Devon could trust him. Jordan countered that as long as Hilary trusted him, he didn't "give a damn" about how Devon felt.

At GC Buzz, Hilary announced to the staff that Devon had left the show and that there was a new owner -- her. The room remained silent for a moment before Mariah started to applaud, and the other employees followed suit. Hilary declared that their team and the show could go beyond local and state concerns, and she anticipated hosting major celebrities and telling stories that the whole country would be buzzing about. Hilary added that they'd set the trends, and if the show wasn't going viral, they weren't doing their jobs. She encouraged her staff to take it all the way with her, and there was more applause.

Later, Hilary asked how Mariah thought the staff meeting had gone. Mariah praised Hilary's enthusiasm, but she stressed that their core audience depended on them to deliver news and gossip about Genoa City. Hilary dismissively stated that she didn't intend to take the "GC" out of GC Buzz, but Mariah contended that her opinion should matter as co-host of the show. Hilary urged Mariah to think and dream big, but she figured that maybe Mariah already was, based on Mariah's aggressive play for Devon. Mariah protested that it hadn't been what she'd tried to do, but Hilary curtly said they had a show to tape. Hilary warned Mariah to stick to the script to avoid upsetting her new boss.

Mariah and Hilary wrapped up their latest segment, and Hilary concluded the show as executive producer and sole owner by promising the audience an exciting time ahead. Hilary commended her staff for their great work and gave them the rest of the night off as long as they left immediately. Mariah asked if she could stop by her desk first, and Hilary told her to make it snappy, since Hilary had a private rebranding shoot with Jordan. Mariah suspected the shoot had more to do with Hilary getting over Devon.

Hilary snapped that she had no other choice but to move on, and she admitted that her meeting with Jordan was personal. Jordan entered, and Mariah pointedly mentioned that Hilary had cleared all the staff out. Devon called Mariah and asked if she was done shooting, and she joked that she was live on air and offered to put him on speaker. She wondered if he wanted to talk, and he thought talking should be part of whatever they did. They made plans to meet at Crimson Lights later.

Gloria arrived at GC Buzz and pulled Hilary away from Jordan to have a private word with her. Gloria explained that she'd wanted to thank Hilary for cutting off "Clarissa's" interview, and she requested that Hilary get rid of the footage so it didn't fall into the wrong hands. Hilary agreed to trash it for Jack's sake and told Gloria to buzz off. Gloria sauntered over to Mariah, who tried to make a quick getaway, but Gloria announced that Kevin and Chloe were engaged.

Gloria insisted that she and Mariah stop the wedding, but Mariah supported Kevin's choice. Gloria thought Mariah was more suitable for Kevin than Chloe, but Mariah recalled that it had been a debacle when they'd tried to be more than friends. Gloria groused that Chloe was an aspiring murderer who'd been in a mental hospital, and Mariah countered that Sharon had also been institutionalized but had been a success story. Mariah wished Kevin and Chloe well if they were happy, and she advised Gloria to step back and accept the inevitable to avoid pushing Kevin away.

Later, Jordan snapped photos, and Hilary asked if he was able to capture the look of a serious newswoman that she was going for. He replied that she looked professionally serious, and she told him to level with her. He thought she had sold the image of a trusted journalist but that she was missing the sparkle that made her who she was. Jordan explained that there was no call for Hilary to play a part, and she didn't have to emulate any famous reporter because she commanded the spotlight on her own.

Jordan took more photos of Hilary and marveled that they were much better because she was being herself. He called her a total star, but she figured that she had a long way to go. Hilary swore that she hadn't booked the shoot to convince him or herself otherwise, and she knew that he'd worked with real stars before. He pulled her into a passionate kiss.

Mariah arrived at the coffeehouse and teased Kevin for getting engaged without telling his best gal pal. She mentioned that Gloria had ambushed her at work, and Kevin swore that Mariah had been next on his list to tell. Mariah congratulated him, and they hugged. Mariah imagined that he'd expected her to go on an anti-Chloe tirade, but she assured him that anything that made him that happy was a good thing. Kevin informed Mariah that she was on the guest list, and she asked if she could have a plus one. He wondered if she had someone in mind, and he was stunned when she waved at Devon when he walked in.

Mariah joined Devon on the patio. She wondered if he'd meant what he'd said to Hilary earlier about him and Mariah seeing more of one another, and he swore that he really wanted to date Mariah. Mariah and Devon discussed their mutual surprise that putting on a show for Hilary's benefit had turned into something more. Mariah commented that their kiss had been over before she'd processed it, and he suggested that they try it again. She flirtatiously asked what he was waiting for, and he replied that a prominent young philanthropist couldn't ravish her in public.

Mariah jokingly inquired when Devon would get a real job, and he revealed that he was thinking about starting a company with his dad. Mariah was glad the men were still close after everything that had happened with Hilary, but she quickly apologized for broaching the topic. Devon said one of his favorite things about Mariah was that they could talk about anything because they were friends. She wanted to make sure that they always stayed that way no matter what else happened between them, and he promised that they would.

At Newman Enterprises, Victor looked forward to the creation of his memoir, and Scott suspected that there was a reason why Victor wanted to tell his unvarnished true story. Scott demanded to know what that reason was before he committed to the project, and Victor explained that he wanted the book to be part of the legacy he'd hand down to his children and grandchildren. Scott anticipated that Victor intended to document his adventures and triumphs in his own words, but he warned that Victor would also have to reveal his mistakes and regrets. Victor insisted that he wanted his family to know the truth, including how much they meant to him. Scott inquired whether Adam's death had been the impetus for the memoir.

Victor recognized that nothing had affected him as deeply as Adam's death had, and he wanted everyone who read his memoir to understand that he loved and missed Adam very much. Victor also wanted the readers to know that he was enormously protective of his family, and anyone who crossed him or any member of his family would have to deal with him. Scott suggested that Victor take some time to make sure it was what he really wanted, since the process could be intimate and invasive. Scott said he would dig for the truth and not pull any punches, and Victor hoped for nothing less. The men shook hands.

Chloe sat on a bench in the park and flashed back to confronting Victor in his hospital room after he'd defended Adam in court. She reflected back on shooting Adam with a tranquilizer and the cabin exploding. Chloe felt for the tranquilizer gun in her purse and crossed over to the trash, but she stopped when Victor approached.

Chloe asked if Victor was just out taking a stroll or if he was locked out of his limo, and he growled that the sight of her caused a queasy feeling in his stomach. She figured that seeing her made him feel guilty that he'd started the chain reaction that had led to Adam's death. Victor contended that the difference between them was that he felt truly remorseful, whereas she was elated that Adam was dead. Victor called Chloe a monster, but Chloe refused to let him ruin the day she'd gotten engaged. Chloe crowed that she had Kevin, and she'd gotten her daughter and her life back. She thanked Victor for giving her everything she'd ever wanted by getting her out of the hospital to help him frame his son.

At Chelsea's penthouse, Nick asked someone over the phone to dig up some information as soon as possible. After he hung up, Chelsea remarked that it sounded like using his connections had paid off, and he indicated that there should be a record of every cell tower that Chloe's phone had pinged on the night of the explosion at the cabin. Chelsea pointed out that the records might show that Chloe had told the truth about being at the penthouse, and Nick insisted that they had to find out. He added that they'd soon know if Chloe had been at the cabin on the night Adam had died.

Nick assured Chelsea that they were only getting information, but Chelsea hated trying to catch Chloe in a lie. He argued that Chloe's explanation about the tracking device hadn't made sense, and Chelsea reasoned that Chloe was a protective person who had been like a guardian to her and Connor. Chelsea hoped that the phone records confirmed that Chloe had been at the penthouse on the night in question. Nick cautioned that it might not be the truth, but Chelsea thought it should be enough that Chloe had been the best friend she could possibly ask for. Nick said the things Chelsea didn't want to face wouldn't go away, and she had to deal with them.

Nick headed to the kitchen to whip up a smoothie to kill some time, and Chelsea stared at a photo of Adam. She flashed back to Chloe admitting that she'd dreamed of watching Adam suffer, but Chloe had been glad that Adam had survived her attempt to mow him down with her car because it had made her realize that her anger and hate had been controlling everything. Nick's phone rang, and he raced back into the room to answer it. He asked whether the caller had obtained the phone records.

Nick relayed that Chloe's phone had pinged a cell phone tower about a mile away from the cabin less than an hour before the explosion. Chelsea argued that it didn't prove that Chloe had been at the cabin, but Nick countered that it proved that Chloe hadn't been in the penthouse. Chelsea reasoned that the authorities had ruled the explosion an accident, but Nick pointed out that someone could have deliberately destroyed the evidence. Nick urged Chelsea to consider the phone records with an open mind, and she testily asked if he thought she was an idiot with her head stuck in the sand. She barked that she was done with it, and she stormed upstairs.

Later, Chelsea descended the stairs and apologized to Nick, and he took her into his arms as she cried. She bemoaned that she'd thought it had been a perfectly normal day, but it had turned upside down. Chelsea wailed that Chloe was her best friend, and they'd been closer than sisters. Nick didn't want to believe it, either, but he reiterated that Chelsea couldn't hide from it. He forced her to face the possibility that Chloe might have murdered Adam.

At Jill's mansion, Kevin, clutching Chloe's bridal bouquet, sat on the sofa. Gloria stood back, but Michael sat down beside his brother and asked about his conversation with Paul. Kevin said he'd made sure that officers tracking Chloe wouldn't attempt to subdue her with force. Kevin told Michael that Chloe was unwell and needed help. Kevin added that he still loved Chloe. Michael cautioned Kevin not to falsely believe that Chloe wasn't guilty of killing Adam.

Esther overheard Michael's comment and confronted him about attempts to line up witnesses against Chloe. Gloria defended Michael and told Esther to back off. Michael noted that Chloe needed treatment in a facility. Esther said, "But we haven't even heard her side of the story yet." Kevin told Esther, Michael, and Gloria that Chloe was guilty of a terrible crime.

Gloria comforted Esther. Gloria encouraged Esther not to stop loving and supporting her child even if forced to make tough decisions on Chloe's behalf. Esther couldn't accept the truth until Kevin mentioned the evidence and showed her the letter Chloe had written. Esther sobbed. Gloria said it was a shame that Chloe had been unable to deal with her hatred for Adam.

Bella wandered into the room. Kevin praised Bella for being a perfect flower girl, but he explained that there wouldn't be a wedding because Chloe had taken a trip. Kevin promised to visit Bella and treat her to ice cream, toys, fashion shows, and tea parties. After Esther and Bella left the room, Gloria asked to speak to Kevin alone. Michael left.

Gloria praised Kevin and told him that she was proud of him for remaining strong despite the heartbreak he'd endured after facing the truth about Chloe. Gloria said she was touched by the kindness Kevin had shown to Bella. Gloria added, "You are more her father than whoever her biological father is." Kevin, sobbing, said he wasn't Bella's father. He cried that when he'd awoken, he'd had a family, but at the end of the day, he was all alone. Gloria promised never to abandon her son.

At a private airport, Nick watched as a figure emerged from a misty fog in a dark alleyway. Chloe called out to the man as he approached. Nick scowled when he saw Victor speak to Chloe and usher her into an airport gate. Chloe, still wearing her wedding gown, asked Victor if he wanted to finally be rid of her. Chloe told Victor that all he'd have to do was summon his pilot, and he'd never have to see her again. Chloe, fighting back tears and breathing heavily, insisted that Victor act immediately. Chloe nervously peered out the window, fearing she might be caught.

Victor pointed his finger at Chloe and said, "Whatever you're up to, I don't want any part of it. You got it?" After Victor walked out into a hallway, Chloe threatened to send him back to prison. Victor replied, "What have you done that makes you so damn desperate?" Chloe cried that she couldn't handle long-term psychiatric treatment again. Victor asked about Adam. Chloe insisted that what had happened to Adam had been an accident.

Victor turned to leave. Chloe stopped Victor by shouting, "Chelsea busted me, okay? She knows. She found the evidence that I framed Adam. That evidence implicates you, too." Victor inquired about the evidence. Chloe claimed that she'd kept the diary, which Chelsea had found when searching in a drawer for a keepsake handkerchief.

Nick ventured toward the entrance of the airport building, but he paused when Chelsea phoned. In tears, Chelsea told Nick that he'd been right to suspect Chloe of Adam's murder. Chelsea explained that Chloe had left her wedding and was somewhere unknown. After Nick learned that Chloe had knocked Chelsea unconscious, he asked if she should visit a doctor. Chelsea, safe at Sharon's ranch house, told Nick that she was worried about Chloe escaping.

Chelsea told Nick that Chloe had driven off in her car and could be far away. Chelsea tearfully recalled how she'd found Adam's wedding band in a drawer in Chloe's room. Sobbing, Chelsea added, "She was keeping it like some sort of trophy. She is more disturbed than you even thought." Chelsea said that after Chloe had confessed to blowing up the cabin, she'd claimed that Adam's death had been best for everyone. Nick asked if Chloe had mentioned working with an accomplice. Nick said he didn't believe Chloe could've carried out the crime by herself.

Chelsea became distracted and noted that her battery was low. Chelsea asked Nick where he was because she needed him to comfort her. Nick lied and said he was in his car. Chelsea asked to meet up with Nick at the main house on the Newman property. Nick told her to stay put before he purposely and abruptly ended the call. After the call ended, Chelsea admitted to Sharon that she wanted the world to know the truth about Chloe. Sharon assured Chelsea that they'd seek justice for Adam.

Nick entered the gate building and pressed his ear to the door behind which Chloe and Victor argued. It was unclear whether Nick could clearly hear the conversation between Chloe and Victor. Inside the room, Chloe lied and told Victor that Chelsea had read a few sentences in the diary about Adam and had insisted that Chloe reveal additional details. Victor said, "Were you idiotic enough to mention my name in the diary?" Chloe said she hadn't and didn't believe that Chelsea had gained insight, given the vagueness of the diary's entries. Chloe said that Chelsea had become frustrated, stormed out, and threatened to phone the police.

In an effort to persuade Victor to help her, Chloe said she feared she might say something to implicate him if confronted and questioned by the police. Chloe added, "I don't that think your family will like the idea of knowing that you framed your son. They'll hate you, but if I get onto that plane, and if I disappear, then your reputation as the gentler, kinder Victor Newman, the man who throws the family parties and rescues kidnapped journalists remains intact. So, it's your call." Victor sighed and contacted his pilot. Victor told Chloe that everything was set.

Victor insisted that Chloe inform only the pilot of her final destination. Victor added that if Chloe ever returned, she would lose everything. Chloe said she'd already lost because she'd left Kevin, Esther, and Bella, so there wasn't anything more. Victor replied, "Don't be so sure." After Chloe exited the gate to the runway and locked the door behind her, Nick entered, realized Chloe had boarded the jet, and tried to stop her. It was too late. Nick became frustrated as he watched the jet climb higher and disappear into the fog.

Nick confronted Victor and asked why he'd let Chloe get away. Victor said, "She asked me for help. I gave it to her. End of story." Nick, recalling ties to past events, replied, "Chloe was at the courthouse when Adam attacked the guard, but I know she was in town before that because Mom saw her at Chelsea's for Connor's birthday party. Shortly after that, the real diary pages showed up."

Victor sat quietly with his arms crossed over his waist and tensely bit his lower lip. Nick continued, "You kept saying it was that waitress, but it wasn't the waitress, was it? She was just a distraction for what was right in front of our face. It was Chloe. Chloe hated Adam. Adam never bought it that she forgave him. Chloe's the one who helped you frame Adam."

Victor had nothing much to say to his son. Nick berated Victor for using a lunatic to teach Adam a lesson because he'd walked away from Newman Enterprises. Victor refused to listen and said he had a date with Nikki. Victor walked toward the exit. Nick said, "Chloe blew up that cabin. She murdered Adam." Victor stopped in his tracks.

At GC Buzz, Mariah asked Devon if she should immediately broadcast a show about Chloe murdering Adam or tape a show to be aired later. Devon, fearing getting involved with Hilary, didn't side with either suggestion. After Mariah stepped away, Hilary approached Devon and questioned him. The most Devon would say was that he'd accompanied Mariah to Kevin and Chloe's wedding. Mariah was staring at her laptop when she returned, and she didn't notice Hilary. Mariah's comment about "Chelsea's bombshell" intrigued Hilary. Hilary noticed opened files about Adam Newman and the cabin explosion.

After Hilary learned about what had happened, she was eager to break an exclusive story. Mariah noted that Scott Grainger had suggested waiting until all the facts had been revealed. Devon said he believed Scott's plan was to break the story himself because he was writing Victor's biography. Hilary scoffed and berated Mariah for not immediately including her boss. Devon became aggravated and said he regretted giving Hilary ownership of the show. Mariah stood her ground and said it was her story. Hilary protested, but Devon noted that they didn't yet have all the facts. While Mariah and Hilary were arguing, Chelsea entered and said, "I want to go on-camera!"

Mariah discouraged Chelsea. Chelsea insisted that the world deserved to know what Chloe had done. Hilary asked Chelsea if she had a photo of Chloe for the show to display on air. After Chelsea found a photo on her phone of Chloe and Bella together, Chelsea seemed to have a change of heart and told Hilary she didn't have a photo. When the show went live, Hilary introduced Chelsea.

Hilary clued in the audience with rough details before turning the microphone over to Chelsea. Chelsea looked into the camera and said, "Chloe, please don't do this. Come home. Turn yourself in. We promise we'll take care of you. We care, and we understand that you are not well." Shaking and tearful, Chelsea pleaded with Chloe to think about her family and her daughter.

At Crimson Lights, Scott and Lauren discussed Chloe and Kevin. Lauren said she couldn't believe that Chloe had worked alongside the woman she'd made a widow. Scott recalled a recent conversation with Chloe. Scott said Chloe had mentioned that she'd taken control of her life six months prior. Scott said he realized that Chloe had been referring to a premeditated murder.

After Lauren left, Sharon arrived. Scott asked Sharon to join him to share a pastry. Scott and Sharon discussed what had happened at the wedding. Scott said he couldn't imagine how he might feel had he lost a child in the way Chloe had. Sharon told Scott about Cassie. Sharon said, "There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about her." Sharon noted that Nick had wanted to make Phyllis' son, Daniel, pay for Cassie's death in the same way that Chloe had wanted Adam to pay for Delia's death.

Scott said that Victor would have to deal with what he'd thought had been just an accident but hadn't been. Scott added, "It's almost the complete opposite of what you had to live through." Sharon said both Victor and Adam had always felt the need to prove themselves. Adam, Sharon explained, had never wanted to get ahead just because he was Victor's son. Scott asked Sharon to help him with the book about Victor's life. Sharon agreed.

At Lauren and Michael's apartment, Michael told Lauren that Kevin had to explain to Bella why her mother wouldn't be returning. Michael blamed himself for not being more up-front with Kevin about his misgivings. Lauren said that she, too, had tried to dissuade Kevin from rushing into marriage, so Michael shouldn't feel guilty. Lauren said, "Chloe is the one who duped everyone. No one could've seen this coming." Michael replied, "I should have."

Michael and Lauren both expressed hope that Chloe would be captured. Michael said Kevin might never allow himself to love again. Michael and Lauren both expressed their love and devotion to each other, and Lauren kissed Michael.

At Brash & Sassy, Billy reviewed some paperwork, but he suddenly walked out of the office after he received a text message. The elevator doors opened, and a female hand pulled him inside. A short time later, a disheveled Billy and Phyllis stepped off the elevator, and he remarked that it had been "quite the welcome home" as they straightened their clothes.

Billy informed Phyllis that Jack had dropped a hefty rent increase on Brash & Sassy to force them to move, and he admitted that the company was in a tougher position than it had been when she'd left. He added that Victoria was striking a deal with Hochman for a loan, and Phyllis speculated that there had been more to Victoria and Hochman's date than they'd thought. Lauren sent Phyllis a text message to inquire about the trip, and Billy pointed out that one of them had to keep their job.

Dina wished Jack and Ashley a good morning at Jabot, and she hoped she wasn't late after she'd been waylaid en route. Dina joked that they should have warned her about their charming competition downstairs. Jack suspected that Billy had been whining about his evil big brother, and Dina confirmed that Billy had mentioned the substantial rent hike. Jack asserted that he'd simply adjusted it to market value, and he welcomed Brash & Sassy to set up operations in Jill's garage. Dina scolded him for talking that way about his own brother, but Jack countered that Billy had changed all the rules.

Ashley insisted that they had other pressing matters to tend to, and she referred to the first half of Dina's report. Jack started to say something, but Dina interrupted and claimed that she'd been mortified when she'd spotted an error in her calculations when she'd reviewed her work. Dina continued that she'd felt foolish, so she'd stayed up to fix the figures before she'd gone to sleep. She requested that Jack delete her original report, and she handed him a revised one. Dina prepared to proceed with her analysis unless Jack intended to fire her.

Jack was impressed by how quickly Dina had corrected the report, and Dina bragged that she'd bought bigger companies over lunch. After Dina headed out to get to work, Jack insisted that he hadn't tipped off Dina about the errors, and Ashley was relieved that they didn't have to worry about Dina in that capacity. Jack was more concerned about his brother sucking up to his mother, but Ashley imagined that it had only been a casual encounter. Jack referred to the way Dina felt about Jill, but Ashley urged Jack to remember that John was Billy's father the next time Jack issued a rent hike. Ashley considered it to be a waste of time because Victoria had an iron grip on Brash & Sassy, but Jack wasn't so sure.

Later, Dina pulled Ashley aside and gushed that working together was a gift that she'd given up the hope of ever getting. Dina continued that she was proud of Ashley and Jack, and she thought John would have been thrilled that they'd nurtured his dream into something remarkable. Dina stressed that John had been right in that family was the most important thing, and she worried about the rift between Billy and Jack. Ashley thought the men would never patch things up as long as Billy and Phyllis were living together. Dina huffed that she didn't care for Phyllis, and she knew John would have hated his sons fighting over someone like that. Dina pledged not to give up.

On the Athletic Club rooftop, Mattie told Reed that she was embarrassed about the way her dad had reacted to finding them kissing. She reported that things had gotten ugly, and she couldn't believe the things she'd said to Cane. She complained that no one could talk to her father because he was being completely irrational, and Reed wondered how her mom felt about them hanging out. Mattie replied that Lily hadn't gone ballistic but that her mom had urged the teens to take things slowly, and she had no idea what to do next. Cane arrived on the rooftop and looked around.

Mattie spotted her dad and told Reed to get out of there, since things would be much worse if Cane saw them together. Reed hurried away, and Cane approached Mattie, who flatly stated that she had to get downstairs for her internship. Cane apologized for overreacting, and he explained that it was tough for a father to see his daughter kissing a boy for the first time. He swore that he was trying to adjust to her growing into a young woman, and she inquired whether he was adjusting to her dating Reed. Cane still objected because Reed's mother had fired Cane, but Mattie argued that Cane had given Victoria no choice.

Cane warned that Reed had caused trouble since he'd been back in town, and he called Reed bad news. Mattie questioned whether anything Reed had done had been worse than Cane's actions, and Cane insisted that he was just trying to protect her. Mattie snapped that he shouldn't have wrecked their family then, and Cane repeated that he was sorry and walked away. Reed returned and asked if Mattie was okay, and Mattie recounted that Cane's lame reason not to like Reed was because Reed was a troublemaking delinquent. Reed admitted that it was kind of true.

Mattie assumed that her dad had been exaggerating about Reed being bad news, but Reed conceded that he had broken a lot of his mom's strict rules and had been grounded a lot. He confessed that he'd shown up on Victoria's doorstep by police escort, but everything had gotten better since then. Mattie worried that her dad had already made up his mind about Reed being the worst thing to ever happen to her, and Reed asked how she felt. She checked her phone and realized that she was late for her internship, and she rushed off.

Across the rooftop, Phyllis approached Hochman and guessed that things had been moving right along, since she'd heard he was about to sign a loan agreement with Victoria. Hochman informed her that the deal had fallen through because Victoria had found out that he'd been considering hiring Cane. Hochman remarked that his budding alliance with Victoria was deader than the flowers Jack had sent on his behalf, and he had reasons to miss her other than business. Hochman crowed that behind closed doors, Victoria was a "wild woman ready to get brash and trashy" underneath the ice princess façade. Phyllis said it was way too much information, and she walked away.

At the Hamilton-Winters office, Victoria growled that she was angry enough to throw something, but Neil stopped her from taking her frustration out on his office décor. She apologized, and she followed his instructions to take a deep breath and regroup. Neil asked why she'd been arguing with the guy upstairs, and Victoria explained that she'd trusted someone she shouldn't have. Neil commented that they'd all been there, but Victoria recognized that she hadn't been on top of her game, and she feared that it was getting worse.

Neil thought Victoria was being too hard on herself, but she thought she should have seen through Hochman in a second. She groaned that she'd narrowly escaped a disastrous business deal, and she confided that Brash & Sassy was in a lot of trouble. She rambled about having no budget for research or marketing and being short a senior executive -- with no funds to hire one. Victoria insisted that she needed a short-term bridge loan to turn things around, but the bank had turned her down flat, and she hadn't declined her dad's offer gracefully. Neil thought there was another option that she hadn't explored yet.

Victoria recognized that Neil was on the hunt for acquisitions, but she was adamant that Brash & Sassy wouldn't be one of them. Neil indicated that a perk of having a family business was being able to make investments in projects they deemed worthy, and Brash & Sassy was about as worthy as it got. Victoria hoped it wouldn't complicate matters that his family was part of her company, but Neil considered it to be a win-win for all parties, including Lily. He reported that Lily had been anxious about supporting her family, and he insinuated that the loan would make it possible to restart the Dare campaign. Victoria confirmed that she'd be thrilled to do so, and Neil suggested that they discuss terms.

Later, Neil printed out a copy of the loan agreement, and Victoria called it the most pleasant negotiation she'd ever had. She commended his generosity, and he said he loved helping out friends. She recalled a time when they'd been more than just friends, and she wondered if she'd appreciated him as much as she should have. Mattie rushed in and apologized for interrupting, but Neil figured the world would be a beautiful place if everyone was as excited about work as she was. Mattie and Victoria politely greeted one another, and Neil explained that Mattie was interning there. Victoria was sure Mattie would do an amazing job, and she sincerely said she was sorry about what had happened between their families. Victoria thanked Neil and departed.

Reed strummed his guitar and made notes by the pool. Mattie returned and was relieved that he hadn't left, and he explained that he hadn't known what to do after the way they'd left things. Mattie blurted out that she'd just seen his mom in Neil's office, and she didn't know why Victoria had been there, but Victoria had been apologetic about what had happened between their families. Reed thought it was a step in the right direction, but Mattie sensed that more had been going on than she and Reed knew about.

Reed inquired whether Mattie didn't want to hang out anymore, but she insisted that it wasn't fair of their parents to keep them from being friends. Reed suggested that they follow their parents' lead by keeping secrets, but she balked at keeping things from her parents. Reed acknowledged that her honesty was one of the great things about her. Mattie figured that if their parents could hide things, so could she.

At the Ashby home, Jordan surmised that Billy had given Lily the news about scaling back the Dare campaign. Lily bemoaned that her paychecks had gone with it, but Jordan assured her that it wasn't personal. He suggested that she look for work with him in New York, since he still had connections that could help both of them. Lily worried about her limited experience, but he was confident that one of the agencies he'd worked for would snap her up. Lily pointed out that she had kids, so she couldn't just leave, but she'd miss him if he moved to New York.

Jordan insisted that he wouldn't be leaving right away, since Genoa City had a lot going for it. Lily wondered what would happen to his relationship with Hilary if he relocated. Jordan hesitated to talk about him and Hilary as a unit, since he'd "be damned" if he knew what was going on with them. Lily referred to the commercial Hilary had stolen from her, and she wondered if there was any chance Hilary would accompany Jordan to New York. He told Lily not to hold her breath, since he and Hilary had hit a few speed bumps. He insinuated that Hilary was jealous of Lily.

Lily thought Hilary's envy was irrational, since Lily and Jordan's friendship had started long before he'd met Hilary. Jordan pointed out that Lily couldn't call it a one-way feud, since Lily had given as good as she'd gotten. Lily took it as a compliment, and she was sure he'd feel the same way if someone messed with his family the way Hilary had messed with Lily's. Lily didn't want to see Hilary trash Jordan's life the way she had Neil and Devon's, and she couldn't imagine trusting Hilary, much less liking her.

Lily figured that it didn't matter how she felt, since everyone who knew Jordan believed that he was too good for Hilary. Lily said Jordan was too special to be with a viper like Hilary and that he deserved to be with someone who didn't take him for granted. Jordan implied that he'd found that woman but that she wasn't an option. He slowly moved in close and kissed Lily, and she didn't pull away.

At GC Buzz, Mariah threw an extra 20 bucks into a pool to bet on how late Hilary would be that day. She assembled the staff to get their production meeting started without Hilary, who had been ignoring her text messages and voicemails. Hilary breezed in and announced her plan to toss out the day's entire show, since she had exclusive breaking news. Hilary instructed her staff to make sure the footage was cued up, and she didn't want to release any previews.

Mariah asked what poisonous, nasty surprise was on the flash drive, but Hilary wanted to get a purely authentic reaction to the footage once they were on-camera. Mariah was sure she'd be disgusted, but Hilary assured her that it wasn't about Sharon or Mariah's "oh-so-special" relationship with Devon. Mariah asserted that there was nothing lurid about her and Devon that would appeal to the gossip hounds, and Hilary replied that she hadn't thought there was either -- until then.

Mariah offered to take a polygraph to prove that nothing was festering between her and Devon, but Hilary retorted that no one cared when she had ratings gold cued up. Mariah questioned whether the story was legitimate, and Hilary proudly stated that she'd taped the footage herself. The camera began rolling, and Hilary cut off Mariah's introduction and announced that they were preempting their regular features with a late-breaking exclusive. Hilary added that her staff would be hit with the bombshell at the same time as the audience.

Hochman joined Cane at the Athletic Club bar and ordered a drink. Cane wanted to stick with lemonade to keep a clear head while they discussed business, but Hochman suggested that Cane revise his drink order. On the television overhead, Hilary broadcasted that Genoa City royalty was on the rocks, since the troubled Newmans were in the news once again. Hilary teased that the Newman least likely to melt down in public actually had, and the usually calm and poised Victoria Newman had been caught on tape, being anything but. Hilary promised the shocking exclusive after a commercial break.

Victoria returned to Brash & Sassy, and Billy assumed that Hochman had loaned her the money. Victoria reported that Hochman had been about to when she'd discovered a secret side deal that he'd made with Cane. Victoria called it a "match made in hell," but she didn't want to spend another minute thinking about it. She was glad Hochman hadn't wormed his way into their company, but Billy lamented that it didn't fix their cash flow problem. Victoria cheerfully declared that Neil had given her the funding, and the only string was to keep Lily employed.

Victoria invited Billy to a celebratory lunch, and she imagined that they could pay the increased rent, relaunch Dare, and be back on track by the holidays. They started to leave, but her phone pinged with a message from Cane, who said she couldn't miss The Hilary Hour. Billy wondered what the pathetic loser was trying to pull, and Victoria pulled up the show on her laptop.

Phyllis was glad to find Jack alone in his office, since they had important matters to discuss. Jack anticipated that Victoria was signing papers for a bridge loan from Hochman, but Phyllis announced that the deal was dead, since Victoria had discovered Hochman's agreement with Cane. Jack figured that they had to adjust their plan, and he asked if Phyllis had any other ideas. Phyllis noted that Jack hadn't seemed surprised when she'd mentioned Cane, and she guessed that Jack and Cane shared the same goal to take Billy down. She told Jack to consider her off the team.

Jack reiterated that he wanted a competitor eliminated, but Phyllis insisted that she wasn't out for revenge. He teased that she was open to a kinder, gentler form of corporate espionage. Phyllis explained that she wasn't trying to destroy Brash & Sassy but just keep it from swallowing Billy's life whole. Ashley entered after receiving a text message from Abby, telling them to turn on Hilary's show right away. Jack pulled it up on his screen as Hilary clucked that Victoria had learned the hard way not to mix business with pleasure.

Victoria couldn't imagine what Hilary had on her, and Hilary explained that she was about to share a clip that she'd captured earlier that day. Hilary revealed that the man in the video was Benjamin Hochman, a recently divorced financier who was known as a corporate raider who dismantled department stores. Hilary aired the footage of Victoria and Hochman's encounter in the hotel hallway, during which Hochman had taunted that Brash & Sassy wouldn't survive without his funding, and Victoria had spat that she regretted spending the night with him.

Hilary turned to Mariah for thoughts, but Mariah was speechless. Hilary questioned whether Brash & Sassy was broke and passé, and she contemplated who could have known that one night of mindless sex could lead to such hideousness. Meanwhile, Jack grinned broadly, Billy and Victoria stared in horror at the screen, and Hochman barked that he wouldn't need Cane's consulting work on "a damn thing."

Devon stopped by the cottage to see Mariah, but Tessa informed him that Mariah had already gone to work. Devon announced that he wanted to get Tessa back into the recording studio as soon as possible, since people were streaming the song she'd recorded, and he wanted to release a full EP. She couldn't believe that he was willing to take a chance on her after she'd choked the first time, but he stressed that he truly believed in her talent. Tessa revealed that she'd been distracted the last time because she'd been dealing with a personal issue, but she was ready to try again.

At GC Buzz, Hilary made a point of saying that she owed Mariah an apology, but Mariah had no idea what she was talking about. Hilary slyly claimed that she was really sorry that she'd ruined Mariah's date with Devon the other night, and she feigned disbelief that Devon hadn't told Mariah that he and Hilary had lost track of time when they'd gotten to talking over drinks. Hilary hoped Mariah hadn't been too upset, and she mentioned the text message that Devon had sent to Mariah to say he'd be late. Mariah snapped that she'd been with Tessa and Noah, so she hadn't been hovering over her phone. Hilary looked pleased as Mariah walked away.

Devon arrived at the studio, and Hilary watched as Mariah barely reacted when he kissed her cheek. He assumed that Mariah was still upset with him for not making it to the Underground, but she claimed that she hadn't noticed that he hadn't shown up. Hilary approached and pointedly stated that she hadn't known that Devon hadn't seen Mariah at all the other night, and she swore that she never would have kept him if she'd known he was going to stand Mariah up. Devon asked Hilary to give him a moment with Mariah, and Mariah demanded to know what had been fascinating enough about his talk with Hilary for him to blow Mariah off.

Devon explained that Hilary had told him about her commercial shoot in New York, and time had gotten away from him. He'd thought Mariah wouldn't have a problem with it because she wasn't the jealous type and because she knew how he felt about her. Mariah questioned how she would know when he hadn't said he loved her back, and he hadn't been around as much ever since she'd said it to him. Devon defended that he'd been getting his company off the ground, but Mariah ranted that when he wasn't working, he was having cocktails with the ex-wife who still loved him. Devon admitted that Mariah's declaration of love had taken him by surprise, but he hadn't taken it lightly when he'd said he was committed to her, and nothing had changed between them.

Mariah wanted to believe that Devon was committed, but she imagined that he'd said "I love you" to Hilary dozens of times, even when she'd made him miserable. Mariah thought he wasn't over Hilary and that he never would be, but Devon swore that he was. Mariah contended that he would be able to say the "L-word" back to her if that were true, and he geared up to say it to prove he could. She stopped him and bemoaned that saying it to make her feel better was worse than not saying it at all. A smirking Hilary hovered nearby.

At Crimson Lights, Scott told Sharon that he'd stayed up late to track down Alice's address from her credit card number. He figured that they had an excuse to visit Alice's home to return the card she had left behind, and they could look around to see if Sharon's hunch was correct. Sharon said she'd tossed and turned all night, thinking about the odds of whether Alice had been the blonde woman who'd driven away with the prostitutes, and she thought it was unlikely. Scott asserted that he had more trust in Sharon's instincts than she did.

Sharon argued that a good investigator needed evidence, and she considered it a wild scenario to go from Alice forgetting a credit card to running a sex trafficking ring, but Scott recalled that Sharon had described Alice as a shady, untrustworthy woman. Sharon pointed out that she had made peace with Alice after Cassie's adoption, but Scott thought leopards didn't change their spots -- especially when they were making money. He asked what Alice's address told Sharon, and Sharon was shocked to see that it was in Genoa City, even though Alice had said she was just passing through. Sharon figured that it couldn't hurt to take Alice's credit card back to her, and they got up to leave.

Tessa approached and asked to speak privately with Sharon, and the women stepped aside. Tessa inquired whether Sharon had heard anything from Paul about Crystal, but Sharon indicated that there hadn't been any word. Tessa forlornly guessed that she had to be patient, and she walked away. Sharon rejoined Scott and offered to fill him in on the way to Alice's, and they departed.

Zack spotted Tessa on the coffeehouse patio and asked if she was working on a new song. He inquired whether she had any new leads on her sister since they'd last talked, and she reported that there had been nothing yet, but she'd at least had a chance to talk to Crystal. Tessa explained that she was trying to focus on her music so that she'd have money to take care of Crystal. Zack commented that he'd always thought Tessa had a good voice, but she was surprised that he'd noticed, since he'd always seemed busy with other things.

Zack asked if Tessa was still hanging out with the Newmans, and he mentioned that Victor had invited him to dinner at the ranch because Abby was helping Zack launch his new business. Zack received a text message from Alice, informing him that she was heading home and asking him to call when he could. He wished Tessa luck and stepped away to make some business calls.

In the car outside Alice's home, Sharon wondered if she should have told Tessa about Alice, but Scott thought it made sense to wait until there was solid proof. Sharon noted that it was a nicer neighborhood than where Alice had lived before, and she imagined that Alice's sales job paid pretty well. Scott remarked that it depended on what Alice was selling. They were startled when a woman suddenly popped up next to the car window and asked if she could help them. Sharon claimed that Alice was an old friend of the family, and they'd stopped by to see her.

Scott asked how long the woman and Alice had been neighbors, and the woman said she'd only seen Alice a couple of times. Sharon wondered if Alice was home, and the woman suggested that they ring the doorbell. Scott said they'd tried calling, but there had been no answer, and he asked if Alice had ever had guests over. The woman mentioned that Alice's niece had just visited. Later, Scott and Sharon contemplated whether to keep waiting, but she worried that one of Alice's nosy neighbors would call the police. She pointed out that at least they'd learned something interesting that day.

At Phyllis and Billy's apartment, Phyllis grabbed a travel mug out of Billy's hand and snapped that it was hers. She brusquely stated that she was running late and had to go, but he asked her not to leave like that. He noted that she'd barely said two words to him all morning and that even those hadn't been very nice. He acknowledged that she was upset because he'd gone to the office the night before instead of spending the evening together as they'd planned, but he wanted to make it up to her.

Billy suggested that he and Phyllis spend the morning together, but she grumbled that having him for the entire day wasn't an option because Victoria couldn't function without him. Billy pleaded that he was trying to meet Phyllis halfway, but she figured that he would just be distracted if he wasn't at Brash & Sassy. She asked what he'd been working on when he'd rushed off the prior night, but he refused to discuss it because they worked for competing companies. Phyllis argued that he'd once confided in her about everything, and she wondered if he didn't trust her anymore. Billy insisted that he was trying to protect her by not putting her in the middle, and he was sure there were secrets about Jabot that she felt compelled to keep from him.

Nikki stopped by Brash & Sassy to visit Victoria, who hoped that her mother wasn't there to talk about what a fool Victoria had made of herself on GC Buzz. Victoria recognized that opportunists like Hilary were always waiting in the wings when a Newman was involved, especially when Victor enabled them. Victoria griped that Victor had done irreparable damage to her life, and Nikki guessed that she was referring to Billy. Victoria confided that the more time she spent with Billy, the more she wished they were back together.

Nikki thought Victoria had seemed excited to go out with Hochman, but Victoria said she'd sensed that something had been off, and she'd later learned that Hochman had been trying to make a play for Brash & Sassy. Victoria told Nikki about her suspicions that Phyllis had asked Hochman to take Victoria out in the hope that Victoria would spend less time with Billy. Nikki couldn't believe that Phyllis wanted to hurt Billy's employer, but Victoria reasoned that Billy would be with Phyllis all the time if the business went under. Victoria relayed that she'd told Billy her theory about Phyllis trying to take the company down, but he hadn't believed her because she didn't have proof -- yet.

Victoria indicated that Billy had really stepped up in surprising ways since she'd fired Cane, including taking a huge risk to help her that could have gotten him in trouble. Nikki inquired whether there had been any signs that Billy and Phyllis were splitting up, and Victoria reported that there hadn't been, but she had the feeling Phyllis was trying to mess with her life. Victoria implied that Phyllis needed an accomplice with business skills who wanted the same thing, and Nikki realized that Victoria meant Jack. Victoria vowed to put a stop to it, since Phyllis had to learn the hard way what it meant to take on a Newman.

At Jabot, Ashley informed Jack that Billy and Victoria had paid her a visit the prior evening because they were worried Jack would use his influence to ace their company out of Fenmore's to make room for Jabot's new line. Jack scoffed at the idea that Billy and Victoria were blaming him for Brash & Sassy's abysmal sales, and he attributed their slump to bad financial decisions and bad press. Ashley stressed that Billy and Victoria knew that Jabot was about to a launch a new beauty line that had been kept under wraps, and she questioned how they'd gotten that information. Ashley added that Victoria was worried that Jack would use Brash & Sassy's misfortune to persuade Lauren to give them the boot, but Jack chalked it up to Victoria's active imagination.

Ashley recognized that Jack would love to force Brash & Sassy into bankruptcy, but she thought it wouldn't be a fair fight if Jabot got involved in the distribution channels. She pointed out that she had yet to hear Jack deny it, but he contended that Lauren decided what to sell at Fenmore's. He suggested that Ashley put her energy into making the acquisition a giant success, but she huffed that she didn't need his backhanded support, since it would always end up biting him in the butt. She walked out, and Jack made a call and demanded that someone get to his office right away.

Later, Phyllis sauntered into Jack's office and wondered about the reason for his foul mood. He asked how things were going with her and Billy, since certain things had made it to Victoria's ear, like Jack's plan to take Brash & Sassy's products off Fenmore's shelves. Phyllis swore that she hadn't leaked their marketing plan, and she had no idea how Billy and Victoria had gotten wind of it. Jack insinuated that it would go a long way to cement Phyllis' relationship with Billy if she'd tipped him off, but she was adamant that she wouldn't lift a finger to keep Brash & Sassy from going under, since every day the company was in business drove Billy closer to Victoria.

Phyllis groused that she and Billy no longer talked shop because Victoria had told him not to trust Phyllis anymore. Jack imagined that it had made Phyllis' blood boil, and Phyllis offered her full support to Jack, even though she understood that his support had nothing to do with wanting her and Billy to be happy. Jack commended Phyllis for jumping in to convince Lauren to take Brash & Sassy's products off the shelves, but he reported that Lauren had adamantly refused to do it. Jack anticipated slugging it out with no built-in advantage, but Phyllis thought he liked having a level playing field. Jack clarified that he liked to win.

Phyllis exited Jack's office and ran into Nikki, who remarked that she thought Phyllis worked at Fenmore's. Nikki entered Jack's office and voiced surprise that he hadn't met with Lauren instead of his ex-wife, and he claimed that Lauren wasn't always available. Nikki mentioned that she'd been downstairs with Victoria, and he recognized that Brash & Sassy was having a rough time. Nikki noted that he could be a wonderful, kind man, but she also knew he had a dark side. She acknowledged that the world was a competition for him and that he had to win at all costs, which made her wonder if he was planning on destroying her daughter's company.

Jack vaguely stated that businesses survived by competing, and he couldn't sit by and let Brash & Sassy bury Jabot. Nikki recounted how Victor had gone too far when Jabot and Newman had gone head to head years earlier, and their family had been left in chaos when he'd been convicted of commercial bribery. Nikki saw it happening again, and she hoped nothing was about to go down that would make things worse, but Jack swore that she had nothing to worry about. Nikki warned that their friendship would be over instantly if she ever learned that he was taking steps to undermine her daughter's livelihood.

Ashley and Abby met at Crimson Lights, and Ashley remarked that she was glad to hear that things were working out with Abby living at the ranch, especially since Abby and her father could get to know one another better. Abby mused that there was a lot she didn't know about both sides of her family, and Ashley guessed that Abby had more questions about Dina's affair. Abby begged Ashley to help her understand, since Victor had told her not to mention Brent Davis as if Brent had been poison. Abby wondered what the big secret was with Brent.

Abby sensed that Ashley was upset, but she couldn't help but be curious about all the intensity. Abby noted that her mom was usually an open book, and she wondered why that topic was different. Ashley stated that Brent hadn't been a very nice man and that John had considered Brent's relationship with Dina to be the ultimate betrayal. Ashley added that her father had never gotten over it, and she hadn't, either. Abby apologized.

Billy arrived at Brash & Sassy and informed Victoria that Phyllis hadn't found out that he'd logged onto her computer, or she would be more upset with him than she already was. Victoria said she didn't want him risking his relationship, but Billy insisted that it had been his decision to use Dina's password and Phyllis' computer to gain access to Jabot's server, and he would do it again. Victoria pointed out that Phyllis was upset because Billy had put Victoria and Brash & Sassy first, but Billy refused to let Victoria and her company be collateral damage in Jack's quest to get back at him. "No matter what the cost?" Victoria questioned.

Victoria surmised that Phyllis was at least aware of Jack's plan, but Billy insisted on giving Phyllis the benefit of the doubt. Victoria insisted that they circumvent the attack by outselling Jabot's new line, but they needed something big and outrageous that had never been done before. She asked if Billy had noticed anything about flaws in Jabot's new product when he'd logged in, and she proposed that they make the public believe that Jabot had released a shoddy product. Billy balked at doing something shady, but Victoria contended that being ethical hadn't gotten her anywhere. She thought perhaps the only way to beat Jack was to stoop to his level.

Victoria prepared to leave for a meeting with the accountants, and Billy promised to have the problem solved by the time she walked back through the door later. After Victoria departed, Billy made a call to order an army of temps across the country to buy Brash & Sassy products from Fenmore's with hundred-dollar gift cards, and he would personally foot the bill. Meanwhile, Victoria waited at the elevator. The doors opened, and Phyllis started to step off, but Victoria forced her back inside and hit the stop button. "I'm onto you, bitch," Victoria hissed.

- Kevin tells Victor the hack is going to be harder than he thinks. Victor just wants the job done.

- There’s a knock at the door and Kevin hides, Noah enters.

- Noah updates Victor on the Underground expansion. Victor is happy, but won’t be able to help him again.

- Newman owns buildings in St. Louis and it’s “unfortunate” Nick & Victor are on the outs, cause he could've had them.

- Noah leaves. Kevin finally gets into the accounts.

Chelsea’s Condo

- Nick comes home after going out of town for The Underground expansion.

- He gets Chelsea a gift she doesn’t seem to like - a mug. There's an eternity band necklace inside. Nick tells her how much he loves their life.

- Later, Nick & Chelsea are shown after having sex on the couch. Chelsea tells Nick how much she wants him there even though she wasn’t sure about it in the beginning.

- There’s a ring at the doorbell. Chelsea and Nick rush to put clothes on.

- Noah enters and Chelsea congratulates him on The Underground. He wants to tell Tessa but can't find her.

- Noah tells Nick about the St. Louis property. Nick doesn’t want to hear it, Chelsea wants him to. Nick then hears Noah out, but still says no.

- Nick insists he has capital for more properties, logs into his account and notice it’s drained.

Newman Stables

- Tessa and Mariah are talking; Alice ordered Crystal back to Genoa City.

- Mariah says everything will be fine as long as they keep using their secret weapon, Cassie’s ghost.

- Tessa is amazed Mariah pretended to be Cassie's ghost.

- Tessa tells Mariah again she’s like family to her, Mariah tells her she’s much more than that to her.

Sharon’s Cottage

- Alice has been asleep on Sharon’s couch. She wakes up & Sharon tells her she’s not going anywhere until Crystal is safe.

- Sharon says they're not enemies and that’s proven by the fact that Alice has Crystal on a plane back to GC.

- Sharon wants to hear that Crystal’s OK, Alice calls Leon on speaker phone. Crystal is put on the phone and asks Alice where she’s going. “Somewhere safe” Alice says.

- Sharon writes a location for Crystal to be brought to on a piece of paper. The location “doesn’t make sense” according to Alice.

- Tessa and Mariah enter; Alice is filled in on the Cassie/Mariah twin situation.

- Tessa says they need to shut down the sex ring, Alice is insistent she knows nothing about one.

Ashby House

- Cane enters and mentions getting served the divorce papers to Lily.

- Cane and Lily argue about the divorce. They discuss how to tell the kids.

- Maddie and Charlie arrive and are told they need to talk with their parents. Maddie asks if it’s a good thing or bad thing.

- Lily tells the kids about the divorce. Cane hangs his head.

- Charlie asks “why now?” and Lily says they can now move forward with their lives. Maddie asks about logistics, Lily says the kids can see Cane whenever they want.

- Maddie think the divorce was Lily’s idea and that Jordan’s a factor. Charlie is angry at Cane cause of Juliet.

- Charlie reminds Maddie they still have each other. Lily and Cane are glad about this.

- The Twins want to be done with this, they’re parents encourage them to keep talking. Maddie hugs Cane and says she loves him. Cane grabs Charlie into a hug, tells the kids how much they mean to him. They leave.

- Cane puts his keys on the table and leaves.

- Maddie comes back out and comforts Lily.

Cassie’s Grave

- Alice is mystified that Sharon wants Crystal brought there. Sharon says it makes perfect sense.

- Alice and Sharon talk about how it felt to see Cassie’s ghost.

- Sharon’s not mad at Alice because she made the decision to bring Crystal back.

- Sharon is hiding in the bushes. Tessa and Mariah are hanging back too.

- Leon later brings Crystal to the graveyard and returns her to Alice. He hears something in the bushes and grabs Sharon, shows her to Alice and asks “what the hell is going on?”.

- Leon recognizes Sharon from the motel. Mariah hits him in the back of the head with a rock. There's a struggle and Alice ends up with Leon's gun.

- Leon is still conscious, Alice tells him to leave instead of shooting him telling him “the boss” knows about everything, Leon leaves.

Kevin worked on his laptop at Crimson Lights, and Devon was surprised to see that he was back in town. Kevin explained that he'd wanted Bella to spend time with her grandmother, and they made small talk about Portland. Devon thought Kevin had made the right choice to start a new life with his daughter, and he asked if Kevin had met anyone. Kevin replied that he'd been focused on Bella, and Devon surmised that Kevin was still mourning Chloe.

Devon hoped Kevin eventually found someone special, and he remarked that he'd never thought Mariah would crash into his life the way she had. Devon gushed about how great his relationship with Mariah was going, and he found it nice to be with someone who was loyal and didn't play games. Devon sensed that Kevin seemed uneasy about discussing Mariah, and Kevin abruptly said he had to get going to put Bella to bed. Devon questioned whether Kevin didn't think Devon and Mariah were okay.

Kevin chalked it up to being protective of Mariah as a force of habit, and Devon assured him that he didn't have to be, since Devon "respected the hell" out of her. Devon rambled on about his and Mariah's honest communication and great chemistry, but Kevin recalled that Devon had felt that way about Hilary not long before. Kevin imagined that Hilary was a tough act to follow, but Devon swore that he wasn't pining over Hilary or anyone else, and he expected to be with Mariah for a long time.

Kevin remarked that he'd learned that they never knew what the future held, and Devon wondered if Kevin wanted another shot with Mariah. Kevin swore that he and Mariah would never go down that road again after they'd crashed and burned, and he was happy being her best friend. Kevin expressed confidence that Mariah didn't have any feelings for him.

In the Newman stables, Mariah and Tessa panicked when Alice fainted. "Holy crap, she thinks I'm my sister!" Mariah exclaimed. Tessa tried to revive Alice, and Mariah asked if Alice had said anything. Tessa reported that Alice hadn't, and she dryly noted that Alice wasn't talkative while passed out, either. Mariah worried that they couldn't do it alone, and she prepared to leave to get backup. Mariah told Tessa not to let Alice get away, since Cassie might be their last hope.

At the cottage, Sharon and Scott made out on the couch as Mariah burst in. Mariah urgently insisted on speaking with Sharon alone, and Scott headed out. Mariah quizzed Sharon about what Alice and Cassie's relationship had been like, and Sharon demanded to know what was going on. Mariah confessed that Alice was literally tied up in the stables. Sharon cried that Mariah had committed a serious crime and could go to jail, but Mariah defended that she and Tessa had only had one chance to grab Alice to try to save Crystal.

Sharon asked what they'd found out so far, but Mariah indicated that Alice hadn't talked while she'd been conscious. Sharon freaked out at the implication that Alice was unconscious, and Mariah recalled that Alice had fainted when she'd seen Mariah and had thought that she'd been staring into the eyes of a dead girl. Sharon found it strange because Alice had never even seen Cassie as a teenager, and Mariah figured that everyone had people they never forgot.

Sharon realized that she was right about Alice being part of the sex trafficking ring, and she wanted to call Paul. Mariah warned that Alice could have Crystal killed, and Sharon questioned how she could help. Mariah implored Sharon to tell her how Alice had treated Cassie, and Sharon wondered what Mariah was planning to do. "Bring Cassie's ghost back," Mariah declared.

Tessa worriedly hovered over an unconscious Alice, who flashed back to reminding Cassie that Alice had purchased the girl's doll. In the memory, Cassie replied that it had been the only doll she'd had before she'd gone to live with Nick and Sharon, and she recalled that Alice had yelled a lot. Cassie recounted that she'd had to be quiet because Alice had sometimes slept in the daytime, and Alice promised that things would be better that time. Cassie insisted that she didn't know Alice and that she just wanted to call her mommy. Alice stirred in her sleep and murmured Cassie's name.

Alice awakened and wondered if Cassie had really been there, but Tessa barked that Crystal was the only girl Alice should be worried about. Alice insisted that she didn't know anyone named Crystal, and Tessa threatened to have the cops raid the fancy house where Alice kept a stable of girls locked up until men were ready to pay for them. Alice maintained that she worked in medical sales, but Tessa demanded that she stop lying. Tessa received a text message, and she suggested that Alice take some time alone to remember where Crystal was. She coldly told Alice not to bother screaming because no one would hear her.

Sharon was aghast that Mariah intended to pretend to be Cassie, and she thought it was a bad idea. Tessa entered and reported that Alice was sticking with her story. Mariah announced that she had a plan, but she needed Sharon's help, and she asked if Sharon was in or out.

Alice struggled to get free, and the lights suddenly fizzled out. She nervously asked who was there and what they were going to do to her. Mariah appeared, wearing a pink jacket and smiling sweetly. Mariah greeted Alice, adding, "It's me -- Cassie. I've missed you." Alice told herself that she was hallucinating, but Mariah insisted that she was really Cassie. Alice referred to the terrible car accident that had killed Cassie years earlier, and Mariah knelt down next to her and insisted that she was there to help Alice.

Alice begged "Cassie" to untie her and get her out of there, but Mariah replied that she was afraid she couldn't do that, since it wouldn't be what Millie wanted. Alice barked that Millie was gone, but Mariah clucked that Millie was watching Alice and still wanted Alice to be a good person. Alice swore that she was a good person, but Mariah lectured that what Alice was doing by exploiting those girls was horrible and wrong. Alice defended that she looked out for the girls and protected them by being a mother to them -- the kind of mother that she should have been to Cassie.

Mariah noted that a real mother wanted what was best for her daughter, which was what Millie had wanted for Alice. Alice wailed that she still thought about Cassie all the time, and "Cassie" pointed out that if she'd grown up, she'd be the same age as the girls whose bodies Alice was selling. Mariah questioned whether Alice would have sent her sweet, innocent Cassie off to seedy motels with creeps, and Alice begged her to stop, since she'd never want that for Cassie. Mariah insisted that Alice had no other choice but to do the right thing.

"Cassie" urged Alice to help Tessa find her sister and get Crystal out of that terrible life. Alice protested that what she was seeing couldn't be real, but "Cassie" explained that she was there because someone had needed to stop Alice from going too far. Mariah pressed Alice to help by revealing where Crystal was, so Alice could go home and be at peace with herself, knowing that she'd done the right thing to make Millie proud. Alice told herself that it was a dream that she'd wake up from, and Sharon rushed in. Alice thanked God that Sharon was there, and she begged Sharon to tell her that she wasn't losing it.

Sharon confirmed that she saw Cassie, and she sat down next to Mariah and imagined that Cassie had to be there for a very important reason. Alice wondered why Cassie cared when Alice hadn't been good to her, and Sharon pointed out that Cassie wouldn't be there if she hadn't forgiven Alice. "Cassie" begged Alice to treat the girls better than Alice had treated her, and Alice hung her head and agreed to help. Alice revealed that Crystal was with a guy named Leon in New York City, and Sharon untied one of Alice's arms and handed her a phone to call the guy to tell him to take Crystal home.

Scott arrived at Newman Enterprises and asked Abby what had happened to her date. She asked the same question about his, since she'd thought he and Sharon were having an epic romance. He reported that Sharon had had a family thing with Mariah, and Abby taunted that it wasn't a great sign that he'd been excluded. Later, Abby hoped Scott hadn't taken what she'd said in the wrong way, and he replied that he'd taken it like she'd intended. He added that it would take more than that to offend him, and he explained that he'd taken off because Mariah had wanted to have a private conversation with Sharon.

Abby recognized that dating someone with kids wasn't easy, and she divulged that her stepson had been troubled. Scott pointed out that she hadn't mentioned the boy during their interview, and Abby confided that they weren't her happiest memories. Scott mentioned that he didn't have any problems with Mariah or Noah and that he hadn't met Faith yet. Abby advised him to keep the problems between him and Sharon. Scott wondered why Abby thought they had problems, and she noted that he and Sharon were very different.

Abby figured that Sharon was all about her kids, while Scott was chomping at the bit to save the world. Scott recalled that his mom had said almost the exact same thing, but he referred to the saying that opposites attract. Abby conceded that opposites might attract in the short term, but she'd learned during her online dating research that couples had to have similar interests to stay together. Scott insisted that he and Sharon had things in common, but Abby anticipated that things wouldn't work out.

Lily answered her door and asked "what the hell" Hilary was doing there. Hilary acknowledged that she was the last person Lily wanted to see, but she was there because she'd just seen a devastated Cane. Hilary invited herself in and bemoaned that Cane was a complete wreck because any glimmer of hope he'd had was gone. She thought he and Lily had been going to marriage counseling to deal with their issues, but Lily asserted that it wouldn't fix their problems. Lily refused to talk to Hilary about it, and Hilary guessed that Lily's problem was about the baby.

Lily snapped that she didn't owe Hilary an explanation, and Hilary sympathized that it was a lot to accept, especially since Juliet had the misguided notion that Cane would be there for her. Lily expected Cane to live up to his responsibilities, but she pointed out that it was none of Hilary's business. Hilary swore that Cane loved only Lily, and she voiced concern that he would fall into a well of despair if Lily didn't give him hope. Hilary continued that Cane was the love of Lily's life, and she urged Lily to reconsider counseling because their marriage deserved one last shot.

Lily spat that Hilary was the last person she'd ever take marital advice from, and she ordered Hilary to get out. Lily opened the front door and found Michael standing there. Lily invited him in, and Hilary begged Lily to think about what she'd said, but Lily slammed the door in her face. Lily apologized to Michael and went to get an aspirin for the headache Hilary had given her. Michael worried about Lily being under stress, and he asked what else had happened besides Hilary's visit. Lily announced that she'd decided to file for divorce.

Michael was sure that Lily had given it a lot of thought, but he advised her as someone who'd had big challenges in his own marriage to continue the process. She appreciated his concern, but she pointed out that she and Cane had gotten divorced before because he'd been deceitful. Michael observed that she seemed calm, and she explained that going to a counseling session had crystallized her thoughts and feelings. Lily lamented that it got harder every day to think about the woman across town who was carrying Cane's child, since it was a painful reminder of the terrible things he'd done.

Lily admitted that she loved Cane and was sure she always would, but she was afraid that her love would turn into something ugly if they stayed together. She wanted the divorce to be as amicable as possible for the twins, and Michael inquired whether Cane had a job yet. Lily replied that she didn't want anything from Cane, but Michael anticipated that the state would mandate that Cane pay child support if the kids continued to reside with Lily. Michael asked if Cane had a lawyer, and he realized that Cane didn't even know what was happening. Lily wasn't looking forward to breaking the news to Cane, and Michael offered to do it.

Cane worked out his aggression with the punching bag at the gym, and Jordan suggested that Cane use gloves to avoid injuring his hands. Cane imagined that Jordan had been counting the days until he could move in on Cane's wife. Jordan swore that he wasn't after Lily and that they were just friends who worked together. Cane accused Jordan of dropping Hilary the moment he'd thought he had a shot with Lily, but Jordan insisted that it hadn't been why he'd ended things.

Cane hissed that Jordan had had his eye on Lily since the day he'd arrived in town, but he contended that Jordan was dreaming if he thought she would be available. Jordan suggested that Cane focus on his own problems instead of creating new ones, and Cane asserted that he and Lily were committed to making things work. Cane added that his marriage was far from over, and he warned Jordan to back off.

Jordan stopped by to see Lily and noticed that she seemed stressed. She confided that she'd made the decision to end her marriage, and she begged him to tell her that she hadn't made a mistake. Jordan understood that Lily needed reassurance that getting a divorce was the right thing to do, but he insisted that it had to be her call. She contemplated whether she was doing what was best for her kids or if she was just being selfish by trying to justify getting what she wanted. She added that nobody would win, and she questioned why something that unfair had had to happen to them. Jordan put a comforting arm around her.

Hilary returned to the Athletic Club and insisted that it was important that she talk to Cane, who reluctantly agreed to one drink. She urged him not to give up, since she had no doubt Lily loved him, even if she couldn't get over Juliet's baby. Cane groaned that it was just the tip of the iceberg, but Hilary argued that the Ashbys had forgiven one another before, and it wouldn't be insurmountable if Juliet wasn't carrying his child. Cane pointed out that he couldn't do anything to make the baby disappear, but Hilary suggested that he make Juliet disappear.

Cane thought there was no way Juliet would go back to Japan after everything she'd given up to move there, but Hilary countered that Juliet had no job, family, or real friends in Genoa City. Hilary reasoned that Tokyo had been Juliet's home for a long time and that she'd been ready to head back, but Cane recalled that Juliet had changed her mind when she'd found out she was pregnant. Hilary speculated that Lily would be able to let go of her animosity if Juliet was on the other side of the world. Hilary pushed Cane to at least try, since he had everything to gain and nothing to lose. "Mind if we join you?" Juliet asked.

Hilary said she and Cane had just been talking about Juliet, and she claimed that Cane had mentioned that Juliet had been a rising star in Tokyo. Juliet clarified that she'd been trying to find her niche when Brash & Sassy had called, and Hilary guessed that Juliet missed the Far East. Juliet firmly stated that her life was in Genoa City, and Michael interrupted and asked for a word with Cane. The men stepped away, and Hilary encouraged Juliet to consider moving back to Tokyo, since it was obvious Cane didn't want her. Hilary anticipated that Cane would resent Juliet as the impediment that kept him from reconciling with Lily.

Hilary reiterated that Cane wanted Lily and that Juliet would never be the rebound. Hilary pushed Juliet to go back to Tokyo and make a fresh start because it would be the best thing for her and the baby. Juliet huffed that if Hilary was finished, the answer was no. Juliet recognized that Hilary would love to take her down, but she believed there was a chance for her and Cane, since he cared about the baby and about her.

Cane finished a call from a prospective employer and apologized to Michael. Michael said he was there in an official capacity, since Lily wanted him to speak to Cane as her attorney. Cane crumpled into a chair as he realized that Lily wanted a divorce.

In the Jabot hallway, Kevin and Gloria discussed how she'd taken Bella out for a day of shopping and manicures. Gloria wished Kevin and Bella were staying longer, but Kevin insisted that he had to get back to the best tech job in town. Gloria speculated that he had a special someone, but Kevin countered that it was too soon. She noted that he had a peaceful inner glow, and he attributed it to loving living in Portland. Kevin wondered if Gloria and Jack were still involved, but she sourly reported that Jack had dumped her for Nikki.

Gloria added that she'd met a charming man named Graham but that he preferred to remain friends. She bemoaned that she didn't even get to be a doting grandmother with Fen away at college and Bella in Portland, and she contemplated knitting sweaters and getting a cat. Kevin lectured that self-pity didn't look good on her, and he was sure that she would find someone who appreciated her. She questioned why he had to live so far away, and he promised that he'd be back soon. They said they'd miss one another, and they hugged.

At Newman Enterprises, Victor praised Abby's work and put her in charge of the Bancroft deal. She was honored that he had confidence in her, and he asserted that she deserved it, since the Design Date app was a certified success. He inquired about how things were going with her and Zack, and she replied that she enjoyed spending time with her new suitor. Victor wished her a good time that night, and she stepped out. Abby stopped in the corridor, reentered Victor's office, and admitted that everything she'd just said had been a lie.

Abby assured Victor that the app was a winner, but she had fibbed about her and Zack. She explained that Zack was sometimes a terrific boyfriend, but she felt like he was keeping something from her. Victor warned that it wasn't always a good idea to mix business with romance, and he was sure that hundreds of men were waiting in the wings to scoop up a beautiful, smart woman like her if it didn't work out. Abby wondered if there was any chance that Victor and Nikki would get back together, but he considered it doubtful. Abby understood the feeling of loneliness and need for companionship, and she suggested that maybe it was time for him to move on and find someone else.

At the Athletic Club, Nick left a voicemail message, inquiring whether a bank error had caused his account to appear empty. Nikki asked what was wrong, and she observed that he kept looking at his phone. She guessed that Victor was responsible for his mood, and Nick complained that his father kept finding ways to insert himself into his and Noah's lives. Nikki empathized because Victor hadn't had any problem letting her and Jack know that he was aware of their relationship. Nikki added that Victor wasn't alone, since Dina had also decided to bust into their business.

Nikki rolled her eyes at the thought of Victor and Dina becoming best pals, and Nick swore that he'd always be there for her. Nick answered a call and learned that the bank had no idea how his account had been drained, and he told them to keep working on it. Nick informed Nikki that his checking account had been completely wiped out, but the bank didn't know why or how. Nikki prepared to cancel her plans with Jack, but Nick insisted that she keep them because he had his own date with the gym. Nikki departed.

Nick was surprised when he ran into Kevin, who explained that he was only in town for a quick visit. Nick expressed remorse for showing up at Chloe's funeral, and he wished he had handled things differently. Kevin spat that Nick should feel worse for driving Chloe to commit suicide, and Nick realized that trying to apologize had been a bad idea. Nick turned to leave, but Kevin ranted that it was just like Nick to walk away and never accept the consequences of his actions. The men argued until Nick firmly stated that they were done.

At the gym, Victor congratulated Nick on his successful trip to Michigan. Victor observed that Nick seemed relaxed in spite of everything on his plate, and Nick insisted that there was nothing to stress about. Victor hoped Nick could keep it up, since having multiple clubs in different states required attention to detail. Victor declared that it was on Nick's shoulders whether he succeeded or failed, but he thought Nick could never admit failure because he was too stubborn for regrets, no matter how costly they were. Victor cautioned that Nick stood to lose everything if the smallest thing fell through the cracks.

Later, Kevin met with Victor in the Athletic Club dining room and explained that he hadn't wanted to send anything sensitive over the Internet. Kevin handed Victor the passwords to Nikki's cell phone and email, and Victor asked about Nick's remaining accounts. Kevin promised to keep going until he'd returned the $500 million to Victor, but he pointed out that he could do that from anywhere, and he had an early flight in the morning. Kevin asked Victor to keep him in mind if other work became available, and Victor said it had been good working with him.

Dina stepped off the elevator at Jabot, charged into Jack's office, and slammed the door shut. She demanded her laptop, and Jack politely informed her that Ravi was in charge of the computers, but he'd left for the night. She recognized that Jack was still upset about the photos, but she relayed that Victor had assured her that he wasn't plotting revenge against Jack. Jack declared that she was a fool if she believed that.

Dina chided Jack for antagonizing Victor by dating his wife, and she insisted that Nikki was just trying to make Victor jealous. Jack scoffed at the idea that Victor was biding his time, waiting for the perfect moment to win Nikki back, and he swore that Nikki had changed. Dina dreaded the day that Nikki went back to Victor, and Jack questioned where Dina's concern about him had been before. Dina huffed that maybe she'd changed, too, and she wanted him to know how much she loved him. Jack snapped that he'd almost believed it until she'd hired a private investigator to follow him.

Jack guessed that Graham had hired the investigator for Dina, since there was nothing that made Graham happier than getting between her and her children. Dina haughtily stated that Graham didn't tell her what to do, and Jack asked if she'd hired the investigator on her own. Dina complained that whenever Jack heard something he didn't like, he blamed Graham. They continued to argue, but Gloria interrupted to show Nikki in. Dina said she'd just been leaving, but Nikki sarcastically thanked Dina for sending the lovely photos, adding that she and Jack were thinking of using them for their Christmas cards.

Dina anticipated that despite Nikki's jokes, it would be very sad when they saw how things ended. Nikki countered that she had no plans to end her relationship with Jack, so Dina had better get used to it. Dina questioned whether Nikki's marriage was worth so little that she'd openly cheat on Victor, and Nikki replied that her marriage had provided many advantages, like learning how to punish people who tried to interfere in and control her life. Dina incredulously asked if Nikki was threatening her, and Nikki assured her that it was not a threat but a promise. Jack wholeheartedly sided with Nikki.

After Dina left, Jack contended that his relationship with Nikki wasn't any of Dina's business, but Nikki understood that mothers worried about their kids, even when they'd been apart for way too long. Nikki realized that she'd grown to pity Dina for trading watching her children grow up to pursue her own happiness. Jack added that Dina had never achieved it, so she was back to try to retrieve what she'd lost. Nikki was grateful that she'd maintained her children's love and support, and Jack said she also had his. He promised to protect her from whatever "hell" Victor rained down, but she responded, "Don't."

Nikki recalled that she'd once been a vulnerable, weak addict, but she wasn't that person anymore. She recounted that she'd had setbacks, but she'd always ended up stronger. Jack questioned whether she didn't want protection from Victor, and Nikki clarified that she didn't need it. Jack proclaimed that she'd officially gotten her mojo back, and she credited him for that. He remarked that she was the strong, confident Nikki he loved, but he anticipated that Victor would want revenge, and he was prepared.

Jack said he'd made a reservation at a restaurant just outside of town, and Nikki was thrilled to not be going to the Athletic Club. Jack admitted that he didn't want to run into Victor, since he only wanted an enchanted evening with her. Nikki mused that they were halfway there if there was no more talk of Victor, and they headed out. Nikki remarked that she didn't want to harm Victor, but nothing would make her happier than if he just moved on.

Gloria ordered Champagne at the Athletic Club bar, and Victor told the bartender to put it on his tab. She chirped that he knew how to brighten a lady's lousy night, since she'd just had to say goodbye to Kevin again. She mentioned that she'd run into Nikki at Jabot earlier, and Victor barked that Nikki and Jack deserved one another. Victor suggested that Gloria work for someone other than Jack, since someone with her charms and talents could find a job anywhere. She asked if he was trying to employ her, and he ordered a double tequila.

Across the room, Nick told someone over the phone to stop trying to find who'd hacked his account, since he'd figured out who it had been. He watched Victor and Gloria clink their glasses together.

While driving in a car, Sharon thanked Alice for reuniting Crystal with her sister. Alice groaned that her head was still spinning after being kidnapped and standing up to Leon, and Sharon applauded her for doing the right thing. Alice worried about explaining things to her boss, but Sharon thought that was the last thing Alice should be concerned about. Alice asked if Sharon had changed her mind and intended to have her arrested, after all.

Sharon said she knew Alice was a good person deep inside, since Alice had kept her promise to get Crystal back to Tessa. Alice confessed that she'd done it for Cassie, and Sharon was sure that Cassie would have been proud of Alice. Alice mused that Sharon was lucky to have Mariah, and Sharon gushed that she was grateful that Mariah was in her life. Alice imagined that Cassie would have loved Mariah, and Sharon regretted that the twins had never met, but mostly she felt lucky that she'd gotten a second chance to raise another beautiful daughter. Sharon added that she also wanted Alice to have a second chance, which was why she was giving Alice a head start before calling the cops.

Alice couldn't fathom where she'd go, and Sharon encouraged her to get as far away as possible to start over. Alice complained that a fresh start would be hard, but Sharon pointed out that prison would be, too. Sharon suggested that Alice channel her skills in a healthier direction by getting a legitimate job, but Alice lamented that she'd invested a lot in her girls. Sharon lectured that Alice's girls were victims of ruthless people who only placed Alice one small notch above the product they were peddling, and she warned that they wouldn't think twice about hurting Alice. Sharon questioned whether Alice wanted to risk her freedom and her life to continue down that path.

Mariah and Tessa took Crystal to the cottage, and Mariah offered to make something to eat. Crystal panicked that she couldn't stay, since she had to leave town right away. Tessa urged Crystal to relax because it was over, but Crystal fretted that her captors would try to find her. Tessa insisted that Crystal was safe, but Crystal cried that the people who'd held her were evil.

Over the phone, Leon admitted to Zack that he'd screwed up, but he explained that Alice had sworn that Zack had signed off on everything. Zack hissed that she'd played them both, but there was no time for regrets. Zack instructed Leon to put their contingency plan in motion, and they made arrangements to meet.

Alice crept into the deserted safe house and packed a suitcase. Her phone rang, and she apologetically explained to Zack that she hadn't gotten back to him because she'd been kidnapped and forced to have Leon take Crystal back to Genoa City. Zack ominously said he'd thought maybe Alice had stabbed them in the back, but Alice wailed that her captors had tricked her into handing Crystal over. Alice swore that Crystal wouldn't reveal anything about their operation, but Zack claimed that he didn't care if Crystal talked because he'd already moved the girls to another location.

Alice mentioned that she'd seen things packed up, and she was surprised when Zack noted that she'd packed some things, too. He told her to look in the living room above the bookcase, where she spotted a camera. She claimed that she wanted to be ready for what was next, and he crowed that it would be business as usual. Alice hoped to take few days off, and Zack feigned sympathy after all she'd been through. He assured her that she was invaluable, and he mentioned that he'd left something for her outside to put toward a vacation. She found an envelope on the porch, and she promised that she'd be back in a few days, since the girls were her life.

Paul arrived at the cottage and informed Sharon that his team was heading over to the address where the girls had been kept. Mariah entered and pulled Sharon aside to voice concern about Crystal walking in and seeing a male stranger. Crystal suddenly appeared, and Tessa softly explained that Paul was a good friend and the police chief. Paul expressed relief to see Crystal, and he thought they had the same goal -- to arrest certain people, try them for their crimes, and send them to prison so they wouldn't ever be able to hurt girls again. Paul asked Crystal to tell him who was in charge of the sex trafficking ring.

Crystal recalled that she'd only met the boss once briefly, but she hadn't gotten his name. Paul pledged to find out everything about the guy, and he asked how many women were still in the ring. Crystal wasn't sure, but she mentioned one girl who she'd become friends with -- Natalia. Tessa revealed that she and Sharon had met Natalia, who had told them about a woman whose job it was to look after the girls. Paul inquired whether the woman was based at the same address. Meanwhile, the police busted down the door to the safe house.

Sharon divulged that the woman who'd chaperoned the girls was Alice Johnson. Paul was stunned that it was the same woman who'd adopted Cassie, and Sharon confirmed that Alice had been the woman who she'd seen driving the silver sedan. Paul recounted that they hadn't obtained a license plate number, but he figured that the car should be easy to identify if it was Alice's. Paul couldn't imagine what Crystal had been through, but he insisted that she needed police protection as a witness in an ongoing investigation. Sharon asked how long Crystal would be gone, and Paul explained that it depended on how long it took to locate the leaders of the ring.

Mariah inquired whether there was any alternative, but Paul reiterated that it was necessary to keep Crystal safe. Crystal whimpered that she didn't want Tessa or her friends to be in danger, so she thought it was best if she went. Tessa wanted to go with Crystal, but Crystal protested that Tessa had too many amazing opportunities there, and she'd feel guilty if Tessa put them on hold for her. Tessa and Mariah led Crystal upstairs to pack some clothes for her. A sympathetic Paul guessed that Sharon was thinking about Dylan, and she replied that she was trying not to. Paul hugged her.

Later, Tessa and Crystal held one another close, and Tessa told her to take care of herself. Crystal promised that she would, and Tessa swore that she'd give Crystal the life they'd talked about when it was all over. Crystal thanked Tessa, Mariah, Paul, and Sharon for what they'd done for her, and she wanted them to know how much it meant to her. Tessa walked Crystal to the door, and the sisters said they loved one another before they hugged one last time. Tessa, Mariah, and Sharon watched as Paul led Crystal away.

Alice got into her car and opened the envelope, which contained what appeared to be bundles of cash. She flipped through the bills and was stunned to find that there were only blank sheets of paper on the inside of each stack. Leon suddenly jumped into the passenger side of the car, but Alice managed to exit the car on the driver's side. She stared into the headlights of an oncoming vehicle as the bills went flying into the air.

At Ashley's party at Top of the Tower, the guests were taken aback by Graham's toast. Jack claimed that there had been some confusion, and Dina sputtered that she didn't understand what was happening. Graham accused Dina's self-righteous children of confusing her, and he asserted that Dina had done everything she could to keep the truth from Ashley in order to protect her. Traci demanded to know the truth, and Jack ordered Graham to leave. Graham and Ashley glared at one another.

Graham ranted that Dina had put Ashley first, even though Ashley had played the victim. Graham spat that he didn't feel sorry for Ashley, since she'd grown up with the prestige and benefits of being an Abbott, and she'd lost nothing, unlike the others whose lives had been destroyed. Ashley surmised that he meant his and his mother's, but she pointed out that he'd gone on about how much he cared for Dina. Ashley understood his anger and outrage, but she asserted that his need for revenge was pointless, since Brent had never been able to give Graham the things he coveted.

Ashley bellowed that Brent hadn't been good enough to shine John Abbott's shoes and that Dina had done Graham a favor by getting Brent out of their lives. Ashley admonished Graham for setting his sights on a rich old lady by getting her to trust him more than her own children. Ashley began to clap, and she commended Graham's performance. Dina wailed for them to stop, and Michael suggested that the guests give Ashley and Dina some space. Ashley threatened to call security and have Graham dragged out.

Graham prompted Dina to leave with him, but she insisted on staying, since everything Ashley had said was true. Graham tried to convince Dina to let him explain in private, but she snapped that her trust in him was gone, and she ordered him to get out. He pleaded with her not to listen to her children, since they'd never cared about her like he did. Graham added that he wouldn't be surprised if Ashley was having another mental breakdown, and Neil forcibly escorted Graham out. Jack suggested that they get back to celebrating Ashley, but Abby asked if that was even possible.

Billy noted that there were a lot of third wheels sitting around, and he suggested that the guests let Dina's kids tend to their mother without an audience. Neil insisted on saying a few words in honor of the lady of the hour, and he said he was proud of Ashley and that she deserved the Innovator of the Year Award. Neil recalled that he'd worked with her a lot over the years, so he'd been lucky enough to have a front-row seat to her brilliance, and he admired and respected her. He raised his glass and encouraged everyone to give Ashley more love, and everyone toasted to Ashley. Neil gathered people to leave.

Billy asked if Ashley was okay, and she thanked him for clearing the room. He offered to stick around, but she told him to go while she dealt with Dina. They hugged, and he said he loved her. Jack gruffly wished Billy a good night, and Billy departed. Ravi wondered if Ashley wanted him to stay, but she assured him that it was okay if he took off. Abby asked what was going on, and Traci asked if her mother was ill, since Dina looked like she was in shock.

Jack stepped aside to address Hilary, who doubted that he was there to give her an exclusive sound bite. She imagined that he wanted to make sure that her footage never saw the light of day, and she assured him that she was happy to help a friend, but he'd have to make it up to her. Jack approached Dina at the bar, and she numbly realized that she'd spilled the secret that she'd sworn she'd never tell to a table full of people. Dina cried that Ashley was going to hate her, and Jack comforted her. Meanwhile, Ashley sat alone, struggling with her emotions.

Dina swore that she had to undo the damage she'd caused, and she begged Jack to tell her what to do. Abby demanded that someone explain what was going on, and Traci added that she was having trouble keeping up. Abby recalled that Dina had ended her marriage to John because of Brent, and Jack claimed that it was misinformation. Ashley asked Traci and Abby to step aside.

Ashley hissed that thanks to Dina, everything was out there, and she felt like part of her had died that night. Dina whimpered that she felt the same way, and Ashley tearfully reminded Dina of her promise to stay silent. Dina sobbed that she was sorry, but Ashley walked away. Jack offered to escort Dina back to her suite.

At GC Buzz, Mariah doodled on a notepad as she answered a call from Tessa, who wondered if Mariah had received her text messages. Mariah claimed that she was stuck at work, and Tessa asked if she was free to hang out that night. Mariah groaned that it would be a while because of some impending deadlines, and she mentioned that she'd also had to blow off Devon that evening. Mariah expected not to wrap up until the next day, and Tessa suggested that they hang out another time. Mariah forlornly hung up.

Later, Mariah started to head out, but she jumped when she ran into Tessa. Mariah fibbed that she'd been going on a snack run, and Tessa presented Mariah with cheap red wine and dark chocolate to help with the stress. They discussed Nick's interview, and Mariah was surprised that Tessa had watched the show. Tessa confirmed that she watched all of Mariah's segments, but Mariah thought Tessa would have been preoccupied with settling in with Noah. Tessa questioned whether Mariah thought Tessa wouldn't have time for her anymore, and she admitted that it was the real reason she'd stopped by.

Tessa explained that she'd unpacked at Noah's, but she'd had trouble settling in, since she and Mariah had left some things unsaid. Mariah reminded Tessa that they'd agreed not to get sappy, but Tessa said all she'd been able to think about was that friends were honest with one another. Tessa thought that maybe she hadn't been honest with Mariah by pretending that everything was good, and she'd rushed off when they should have sat down and talked about things. Mariah didn't think it would change anything, but Tessa argued that neither of them would know that until they said the things that weren't being said. Hilary returned and spied them talking.

Hilary asked if she was interrupting a coffee break, and Tessa barked that she didn't see a sign about not feeding the employees. Mariah wondered why Hilary wasn't covering the Abbott dinner, and Devon strolled in and announced that it had ended early. He recalled that Mariah had planned to go to sleep early, and she claimed that she'd lost track of time. Devon invited Mariah and Tessa to join him and Neil for dinner, but Mariah figured that Tessa was heading back to Noah's. Neil entered and pulled Devon aside to take a conference call from Hong Kong, and Tessa told Mariah that they'd talk again soon. Hilary watched as Mariah halfheartedly agreed and turned away.

Neil suggested that they get to the Athletic Club before it closed, but Mariah bowed out because she was fading fast. Neil exited, and Devon urged Mariah to try to get some sleep before their trip to Chicago. He asked if she was still down for the trip, and she replied that she couldn't wait. They kissed as Hilary looked on. After Devon left, Hilary remarked that it was pretty obvious that Mariah just wasn't that into Devon. Mariah asked why Hilary thought that, and Hilary knowingly replied, "Because I have eyes."

At Chelsea and Nick's penthouse, Chelsea chided Nick for stalling about telling her what had happened with his dad at Brash & Sassy. Nick recounted that Victor had thrown around threats to try to get under his skin, but he insisted that it was nothing to worry about. Chelsea argued that they were a team, so what affected him also affected her. He pulled her onto his lap and said he appreciated her candor, but the doorbell interrupted them. Victoria sauntered in, rambling about trying to wrap her brain around the lunatic move Nick had made. Victoria added that what he'd done was certifiable.

Nick asserted that donating his trust had been the sanest move he'd ever made, since Victor could no longer accuse him of riding his father's coattails. Victoria appealed to Chelsea to back her up, but Chelsea supported Nick's decision. Victoria lectured that she'd learned to negotiate a truce instead of engaging in a drawn-out war, and she referred to the good business advice Victor had given her. She reported that Victor had given her a skincare line to get Brash & Sassy back on its feet, and Nick warned that Victor might take it back when she wasn't looking. Victoria blasted Nick for pulling a stunt that had only given him the illusion he was on top, leaving the rest of them as collateral damage.


Nick accused Victoria of simply not wanting to ruin a good thing for herself. Victoria huffed that she was there to have a rational conversation and not to be insulted, but Nick countered that she'd barged in and called him a lunatic. She complained that he was only dragging things out with their dad, and she questioned how it would affect his kids. Nick thought he'd done them a favor, and he regretted not doing it sooner. Victoria heard ringing in her ears, and Nick asked if something was wrong. Victoria bellowed that there was no talking sense into him, and she stormed out.

Nick fetched Christian after hearing the boy on the monitor. Chelsea inquired whether Nick had talked to Noah about scaling down the expansion plans for the Underground, and Nick recognized that he should have handled things differently. Chelsea jokingly suggested that he run it by her before the next big speech he made on television, and he explained that he hadn't told anyone so that no one could have talked him out of it.

Nick figured that he'd had to stop being a rich guy's son so that he was free to succeed and fail on his own terms, and that was important to him. Chelsea insisted that it was important to her if it was important to him, and they kissed. Chelsea cooed to Christian that his daddy had gone on television and become the most popular guy in town, and she imagined that every charity around would be knocking on Nick's door. Chelsea wondered what Nick was going to do about his dad, but he wasn't worried because Victor couldn't hurt him anymore.

Victoria sipped a drink at the Athletic Club bar, and Ravi shied away when he spotted her. She called after him and invited him to have a seat, but he hesitated because they worked for rival companies. They agreed not to pump one another for confidential information, and he ordered a scotch. Victoria noted that Ashley's dinner had ended early, and Ravi explained that the guests had left to give the family privacy to work out some issues, since things had gotten ugly.

Victoria inquired whether the rest of the Abbott family had stayed behind, and Ravi indicated that Billy had left with Phyllis. Ravi wished that he himself had stayed because Ashley needed someone in her corner. Victoria guessed that Ravi liked Ashley, and Ravi called Ashley a special person who he was lucky to work for. Victoria said she'd heard Ravi's skills were invaluable, and she wondered what would have happened if she'd interviewed Ravi first. Ravi guessed that they'd never know, and they clinked their glasses together.

Phyllis and Billy returned to their apartment with Michael, and Phyllis remarked that Lauren had picked the wrong evening to go on a business trip. Michael joked that he'd thought he'd been at a Newman dinner instead of an Abbott one, but Billy admitted that he'd been thrown. Michael noted that he'd never heard of Brent Davis, and Billy intended to figure out who all the players were. Phyllis wondered if she'd really heard Dina say that Brent was Ashley's father, but Billy countered that John had raised Ashley. Michael pointed out that while Billy and Ashley had known they hadn't shared a mother, the news meant they didn't share a father, either. Billy insisted that Ashley would always be his sister.

Michael headed out, and Phyllis guessed that Billy had been covering. Billy swore that he'd meant every word about always being Ashley's brother, but he conceded that it felt odd. Billy imagined that Ashley had known for a while, and he wished that she had confided in him so that he could have helped somehow, but he understood that it had been easier to keep it hidden. Billy griped that, based on how he'd tried to distract people, Jack had obviously known the truth.

Phyllis realized that Billy was giving Ashley a pass but was angry at Jack for not saying anything. Phyllis defended that Jack had been protecting his sister, and Billy asked if it was all right for family members to keep secrets from one another. Phyllis pointedly stated that it should apply to family or anyone close, and Billy admitted that perhaps he was overreacting, since some things were better left unsaid.

Jack and Dina arrived at her hotel suite, and he observed that she'd been quiet on the way there. Dina lamented that she had no words, since she'd ruined Ashley's life. Jack thought Dina's words hadn't left much room for interpretation, and everyone had heard that Ashley's father wasn't John but some loser who Dina had had an affair with. Jack urged Dina to get some sleep before they dealt with it the next day, and Dina realized that she'd hardly had time to process Graham. Jack asserted that Ashley was the priority, but he assured Dina that they would all protect her from Graham, including writing him out of her will immediately. Graham hovered outside and overheard Jack tell Dina that they had to deal with Graham.

Dina said her will hadn't even crossed her mind, and Jack promised to take care of it first thing in the morning. Dina reiterated how sorry she was, and he wished for Ashley's sake that it was enough to fix it. Jack departed, and the door opened a few moments later. Graham entered and said he'd been worried about Dina, and she huffed that it was amazing that she hadn't been worried about him the whole time. Graham contended that her children had gotten in her head, but he could make her understand. She spat that she understood perfectly.

Dina accused Graham of wanting to drive a wedge between her and her children all along, but Graham insisted that it had been Ashley's goal to make him look bad. He pointed out the numerous times that Dina had tried to reconcile and Ashley had rejected her, and he assumed that Ashley had once again turned her back on her mother. He apologized if the things he'd said had upset Dina, but he swore that all he cared about was her welfare and happiness. Dina barked that he wanted money and revenge, and he scoffed at the idea that he and his mother weren't entitled after Brent had left them broke because of Dina.

Graham raged that Dina had jetted off to France to find her next gigolo, and she would never be anything but pathetic, needy, and soulless. Dina smacked him across the face and proclaimed that she wanted him out of her life, and she started to call Jean-Marc in Paris. Graham snatched away the phone and yelled that he deserved every penny. Dina demanded the phone, but she suddenly collapsed. Graham called to Dina, and he started to dial for help on his phone, but he stopped and stared at her motionless body on the floor.

Ashley, Traci, and Abby retreated to the Abbott mansion. Ashley apologized for being quiet, but she noted that it had been a lot to take in. Abby and Traci scuttled off to fetch tea and cookies, and Ashley stared at a photo of John. Jack arrived and told Ashley that Hilary had agreed to bury the footage. He recognized that they eventually had to talk about it, and he relayed that Dina was a wreck -- not just because of what she'd done to Ashley but also because of the truth about Graham.

Jack pointed out that Ashley had caught him off guard, and she explained that she hadn't been able to keep quiet when Dina had defended Graham. Jack questioned how Ashley had put the pieces together, and she recounted that everything had made perfect sense when she'd seen Graham's yearbook picture. Jack called Ashley's connection to Graham a biological accident, and he was adamant that her father would always be John Abbott.

Jack informed Ashley that Dina was having Graham written out of her will, and Ashley bemoaned that it was almost worth her paternity becoming public knowledge. Jack wished he could take back Dina's terrible slip of tongue, and Ashley said she appreciated everything Jack had said about her and their dad. She anticipated waking up to a different reality the next day, and she wondered if people would treat her differently. Jack assured her that they wouldn't, and he held her close. Abby and Traci reentered the room as Ashley wailed that her daddy had died believing she was his daughter.
